Some time after Anakin Solo's death (he died in a mission during the final days against the Imperial Remnant). Jacen had grown increasingly frustrated with how the New Jedi Order had gotten, acting so much like peacekeepers but not really doing much for things like slavery still running amok in the Outer Rim and pirates murdering and killing. During this time, he had encountered Snoke, and found an artifact of the Sith; The Mask of Ren. The Mask had called to Jacen, fed him what he wanted to hear, pleaded for him to take on the Mask.
Prior to putting the Mask on, Jacen and Luke had a talk but it escalated into a heated shouting match when Imperial Remnant showed up and attacked the Temple. Luke and Jacen engaged in a deadly duel as the Temple was destroyed, at the end, Luke was captured by Darth Caedus, formerly Jacen Solo. And thus began the rise of Darth Caedus and the return of the Sith Empire...
