Practicing with her rapier, Weiss realizes that she’s out of some types of dust in the chamber. No matter, she reached into her bag and pulled a fresh cylinder, filled to the brim with shrinking dust. A rare and expensive form of dust, instead of lighting it’s target on fire, or shocking it, shrinking dust would reduce the size of whatever it hit.

Breaking open Myrtenaster’s action, Weiss attempted to slide in the cylinder of ammunition. Unfortunately, she was a little bit off, and the dust bounced off the action. Knowing how volatile dust was from experience, Weiss could do nothing but cover her face as the cylinder exploded violently upon contact with the ground.

Lowering her hand, Weiss considered herself lucky to still have all her limbs. She didn’t feel any different, and looked down to see the cylinder of dust had been completely expended after such an explosion. Almost immediately Weiss felt a chill all over her body. Like she was being pressed in from all directions at once. She dropped her rapier in shock and looked down at herself. Instantly she knew what was happening. She had dropped shrinking dust after all.

After she had been reduced to a fraction of the size she was before (about 1/20th if she had to guess based on the quantity of dust she used), Weiss looked around angrily at her sword, now far too big for her to even hold. “Oh well,” she thought, “at least Ruby will take care of me until we get that shipment of growth dust in from Atlas. Although with the embargo it could be a while…”

Notes:
I really wanted to have a smoke explosion type effect when the dust hit the ground, but after spending the better part of 2 hours trying to figure it out, I couldn't get it. Instead I opted to forgo it and just focus on the rest of the animation.

While yes, we've never seen shrinking dust in the show before, it's not too much of a stretch to think it might exist. And it has been shown to be pretty volatile, exploding as easily as Ruby breathing on it in one of the earlier episodes. I imagine that the dust Weiss puts into her rapier is probably more durable than how I portrayed it here, but whatever, it's not that big of an issue.

This was an animation I had in the back of my mind for a while, but given that I had done a couple Weiss centric animations previously, and given how comparatively unpopular my shrinking animations are to my other ones, I decided to give it a bit of time before trying this out. I've really been putting out a lot of content recently, more so than I have in months. And some of these recent ones have been the best I've ever made. While I wouldn't expect the quantity or quality to keep up, it has been fun getting back into Blender for a little while.

This animation is sort of based on this image here www.deviantart.com/championoft… which depicted Weiss shrunken down next to her sword as well. While it was what inspired me to make this, I think I did more than enough to warrant it not being a copy however.
