Sugar realized very quickly that her sister was not ready or old enough to do all the adult stuff she has to do to take care of both of them. It made Sugar really appreciate Light even more. It also made Sugar very protective of her sister. Every time they were in town and some adult would approach them, Sugar would stay very close to Light’s side. If she’d see that that person makes Light uncomfortable (which happened often, as Light wasn’t used to people) she would often do angry faces at the stranger, as if to threaten them.
