Thanks a lot. No, I did not use a filter on the Panasonic. It has these wonderful warm colours. I must admit, I miss them on my new Nikon D80 ...

funny you should say that! i also have a nikon D80. there's a quality that i miss in black and white with professional film that i can't get anymore, even with this top-of-the-range camera.

I am afraid, you will never get the same quality with a digital camera as with professional film. Perhaps with a professional top-top camera, but not with the semi-professionals as the D80.
I must admit that I had to go through my own disappointments with the D80. Now I am slowly getting used to it, and also to the fact that in many cases the pictures are not so very much better than with the Panasonic FZ10, which was ever so much cheaper.
If you are interested in my Nikon-worries, please take a look at one of my latest journals on the jchanders-gallery.

yep, you don't seem too happy with this camera. i wanted to get the D200 but when i went to buy it i realised that it was more a pro camera and i had no real need for it. i didn't buy a nikkor lense though. as i wanted the 18-200 (which my seller didn't have) i got a sigma. it's quite good and probably stronger than nikon. i've also got some filters, but i'm not 100% happy with the combo. so far the only useful one is the orange for black and white wich is better than the programed filter.

Yes, I must admit that I am pretty disappointed with the basic colours of the Nikon D80. I tried various settings, but none of them gave the warm colours of the Panasonic FZ10.
Just compare please the two cows shots that I just placed on my jchanders-gallery:

And you will see what I mean. - Perhaps I can still find out what I must do, but I am undeniably disppointed up till now. And I really do not feel like photoshopping each shot of mine. I never had to with the Panasonic, and if I must do that with the Nikon, well, than it is just no good!

i've just seen your photo, and you're right. i have been touching up all my photos since i've had my nikon. Since it's my first digital i just assumed that that's what you had to do. when you have 100 photos to do it's tedious!!! Even my polarizing filter doesn't give out a good effect, and it's the basic filter you could get for a camera...

Yes, I prefer one hour out in the open air to four hours behind the computer! So no tedious work on it either, I find ...
