I'm sorry for you loss, but I think that your claim may be in the negatory rather than entire true. This birds, and the others I shoot, are well taken care of in a wildlife reserve. I doubt the biologists and trained help taking care of them would feed them things that harm them! In fact, from what I've read, most birds enjoy peanuts, both shelled and unshelled, and they can be used even in backyard bird feeders. Perhaps the peanuts being fed to your bird were salted?

It was a shelled one for wild birds. We still feed them peanuts just unshelled since the incident.

I once had a umbrella cockatoo that didn't eat any thing but peanuts! irritating because he wasted so much food throwing the rest onto the floor. I'm pretty sure his owners prior to me only fed him peanuts. He began eating sunflower and pumpkin seeds before he left my care to his new longterm-foster owners so hopefully he'll start eating more than that! I was hoping to get him onto fruits before he left me, I was only safe housing him sadly :c he was quite a character.
