Description
This is a commission for ~ArynChris of an angel named Pious. She is wingless and kind by nature. In the worlds where her god isn't the main one, she acts as a healer, but in those where it is, she is the sign of the apocalypse.Corel Painter 9, Wacom Intuos, about a week's time.

Seraphim, as well (six wings--two to fly, two to cover their feet in the Presence of YHWH, two to cover the eyes). I try to specify no wings because so many people automatically assume angels have them. ^_^

At first, I read this as Angelic Hairbringer. Bring hair? Well that's interesting. It's ironic her two different roles. I love how she looks flaming and luminescent.

There is a history to the character. The wingless angel Pious, born March 16, 2003... if you want to get technical and put it into our world's time, that is. A brave and good woman was accidentally killed by healing magic at the end of a heroic (though hardly epic) battle, and her soul shattered into pieces when she did. Pious was formed from one of those pieces, the part of the woman that had been devoted to her god and truly pious--hence the name. Pious was originally tasked to fulfill the last wishes of the woman, which led to many adventures all by itself, and her story went on from there. As Liiga mentioned, she acts mainly as a white-light healer in worlds belonging to more than one god, or to a god not her own, but in many if not all worlds which belong solely to Him, her appearance is the signal for the apocalypse to start. This painting shows her in one of the latter worlds, praying for the souls of those about to die and/or be sent to Hell.
Her stories are both written and roleplayed, though, and there are quite a few. I consider her story far, far from ended. ^_^
