Description
I spent all of this weekend practicing my ink wash skills, trying my hand at one-panel spot cartoons (I've grown addicted to the works of Charles Saxon recently), and showed a few pages' worth to family friend Pat Byrnes [link] . He gave me my first secondhand drawing table and my sister several babysitting jobs, I owe him something huge. This was his personal favorite, and I liked the drawing enough to post. (I tried as hard as I could not to make it look like 'Heavenly Nostrils,' and it shows.) I may post more if you enjoy them.
If you see it ripped off in the New Yorker in a few months, you know where it came from. (But there's a snowball's chance in hell of it being published. Roughly 95% of even the established cartoonist's work is quashed because there's not enough room, I know this from the horse's mouth.)
(One thing that makes it obvious I'm a New Yorker fan, is the way the question's phrased - it creates a whole other joke, wondering what the hell the question the Unicorn rebuts is.)
For the non-english speaking, the caption is "But my life is an agony of winter wind and existential sorrows." Google translate.

Me.
And panel cartoons are just good for the challenge. Situation and story in one picture and one line of dialogue.

'*your' in the possessive case, 'you're' in the second person declarative. What the hell's with that? Just more proof that English is kinda stupid.
The secret to good penmanship is a loose wrist and knowing how to construct letters downward. These letters were touched up pretty heavily with micron after the fact, they looked a lot worse beforehand. ^^'

I like grammar fuckups when they look and sound cool. English is one of those languages, though, that's impossible to learn and really easy to grow up speaking - its greatest strength is that with a few random words and a lot of gesticulating, you can get your point across really well with no need to be right. Grammar nazis, who act as if the strength of english is that it's as perfectly structured as French... groan!
You do calligraphy? It's the best. Fancy writing you need verve to the wrist, and you got that in spades... I'd love to see what you have! ^^

We like their pastries, and their student animations, and the wine... then again, it's overly bureaucratic, the art world is horrible, the racism is bad, the accordions are annoying, their armpits are disaster zones and the cities smell like cat piss.
Calligraphy doesn't need patience, just precision and shit like that...

Their language sounds like they're trying to vibrate a maggot out of their nose without moving their lips. But it's rather pretty to look at. ^^
"Precision" doesn't mean slowness by any stretch of the imagination. You've probably had a boyfriend at some point who demonstrated that all too well.
