If they re-make this game (they will... they have to...) they better make this change and put her into this fight wearing the dress. 

I already got the mouspads up and sold one yesterday (OMG)

I thought the same as well. 1) if the planned to remake FF7, then they have to remake FF6 and considering where the series is going how bad it's doing here in America, their only hope is go back and remake them, but in the same style as they did before and not like they've been doing lately. 2) It just seems consistent to her character. Even before she accepts posing as Maria, she states "I'm a soldier, not some love-starved twit!" So, when a fight breaks out, even in such a dress, she's likely to join her comrades.
Besides, I think the developers and fans alike would love to see her kicking but in that dress in 3-dimensional graphics.
