You can learn some about the "universe build" there:

And find more worldbuilding parts there:

Magic Basics

  • Code is the general concept of the information skeleton on which the world rests. The "guts/inners of the universe" are made of code tapes. Manipulation of the code tapes is the use of magic, and the type of magical influence depends on mage's approach.
  • Magic use is a skill that can be learned and developed by anyone with the so-called "Perfect Core".
  • Magic depletes the energy resources of the body by increasing the energy consumption of the Core. To reduce possible destructive effects, magicians can use familiars (creatures with an imperfect core) to create the most energy-intensive types of spells.
  • In fact, there is neither "demonic", nor "sinful", nor "dark" magic. There is "just magic" which is used with "some intentions" and leads to "a result". But the attitude to certain magical abilities is always an individual problem of a House/community quirks/person's morality.
  • Very often locals use magic to create smth or to regulate smth. In order to survive.  For example, to create a comfortable climate in the house or protecting a community against vampires.
  • Code tapes are invisible for sapient creatures, as a rule. Touching them is also problematic. Locals can choose the path of Core's work distortion (intoxication, radical physical impact), or resort to using enchanted tools (like magic wands and such) to facilitate their work.
  • The last one pic (red lines mess) is a demonstration of intoxicated Core world perception. These lines were inspired by perforated paper tape and usual 3D games bugs.

Some details

[Fancy glow]

All natural reactions, events, and whatever stuff are based on the very “code” and “system”. Magic happens everywhere, imperceptibly as a rule, and is a natural flow of things. So, if the magician doesn't break any of the code tapes, then the magic (such as creation, change of form, settings tuning, etc.) has no visible effects. But we are talking about the magic sparkles. In a case magic does something based on a chemical/physical reaction that is conditioned by an appropriate visual reaction, it will manifest itself. It simply will not include an unnatural glow.
But if something breaks, collapses, starts to bug, etc., then it should look really fancy! The most epic traumas are in pink sparkles and rainbow smoke, right?

[Core intoxication]

Congenital/acquired damage fo the Core can provoke the visibility of the universe guts. A temporary effect may be caused by intoxication of the body. Such an option can lead to disastrous consequences (dysfunction of internal organs, coma, Core permanent errors), or doesn't work correctly (cause ordinary hallucinations not related to the universal layers).

The positive effect of visible "guts" is the opportunity to see where this or that line belongs, possibility  to consider the criticality of the impact, see certain values and notice gaps or find a way to combine several different effects. A great palette of opportunities if you have the necessary knowledge. Without knowledge and purpose, this can be unnecessarily dangerous entertainment.

Adequate magical communities prefer to avoid the risk of ruining their lives, and therefore they work "blindly", using tools. Enchanted items, familiars, the human-tabula are the "tools". But the performance of these tools, their progressiveness and usefulness greatly depend on the development of a particular House. Not to mention the fact that charlatans can exist at any time.
