Description Tad grainy but I was too lazy to pick up the tripod from mom's house.

Who needs a tripod anyways. Just use things around you and assemble one yourself. The shot's nice though, even with the grain.

Thanks!

There were some instances right before totality where it would have been really nice, and a composite might have been nice. But I didn't have anything in the foreground to add to the composite anyway.

Mostly it's just best viewed in person. There were a lot of people trying to get good shots and all and that's great, but no one is going to beat Miloslav Druckmuller's photograph anyway. To be honest people shouldn't even try. It's just gorgeous. www.zam.fme.vutbr.cz/~druck/ec…

Oh wow. The first thing I thought was "looks like a gazillion images stacked". Turns out it was 24 images stacked and lots of careful processing but holy hell, those details...

maciejkarcz.deviantart.com/gal… got some clean shots as well. He also captured mercury in one shot!

Yeah one of them is like, a 32 image composite or something, but it's awesome and beautiful! Haha.

But it's still fun to have your own shot, but anyone who's taking shots the whole entire time is missing out on taking it in and enjoying it for themselves. It's such a short period of time and it is so awesome.

That guy's diamond ring shot is why I need to get a DSLR and a polarizer...

It's pretty impressive indeed.

I agree, people tend to forget that the image is only to enhance the memories of the experience. If you don't sit back and take it all in there is not a lot of memories/feelings to bring back with an image.

Ikr? I always think that I might need this and that, be it filters, lenses or a freaking tripod. I never buy anything though, lol.

Yeah my little point and shoot just does so well on its own and is so portable that it's hard for me to get the motivation to buy a DSLR. If it can't fit in my purse it's probably not coming hiking with me.

You just have to find a sweet spot to put it. When I'm day-hiking I just have a small shoulder bag in addition to my backpack. On multiple day tours I remove the shoulder girdle from the bag and attach is with tension belts to the hip holders of my backpack. That way it won't annoy me but I can grab it easily if I need to.
