I couldn't help myself. I had to create my OC for The Dragon Prince. xP I'm obsessed.I have no idea what her name should be or what her role would be in the story. Is she from our world who accidentally finds herself in TDP? Or is she a resident of that world? I imagine that she would be older than Callum and Rayla. Somewhere in the 17-19 range. So she's probably going to be closer to Soren and Claudia in terms of age. I can imagine Soren being her ex-boyfriend if she's going to be native to the world. xD I can also see her having a secret crush on the Crow Master. xD Hence me giving her a crow in the drawing. Maybe she's going to be related to Callum and Ezren? Amaya's daughter perhaps? Or maybe she's the baker's adopted daughter. I have no idea.
Or if she's from our world- ... she would have such exciting experiences! Such as seeing the night sky and be completely baffled by the amount of stars in the sky.
Rayla: "What? Haven't you seen stars before?"
OC: "Of course I have! It's just... never so many. Back where I am from, it's possible to count them on both hands. "
She'd go nuts with all the flora and fauna, especially the fauna. I already can see her being absolutely in love with the magic of the world. She'd fawn over Ezren and Zym. Be intrigued but frightened of dark magic. And of course, she'll probably nerd-gasm over elves. xD I can see her bombarding Rayla with questions about her culture. I can imagine Viren being responsible for her arrival in their world by summoning her by accident. King Harrow would of course order Viren to find a way to send her back, but Viren will undoubtably be too distracted with more important matters, such as saving His Majesty's life. In the meantime, she's treated as a royal guest.
While trying to name her, I guess I'm stuck between Imogene and Nancy. If she's native to the world, I'll probably go for Imogene. If she's from our world, I feel that a simpler name such as Nancy would be very charming and practical.
One of these days, I will write a Dragon Prince fan fiction, but I'm going to bite my knuckles and wait for another season to come out first. I need to understand Xadia, the lore and the characters better before I dive into it. xP

So going to write that fanfic now that season three is out and the first major arc of the story is over? Yup the creators confirmed that season four will be after a time skip, and will be the intro to the next part of the story. They are also debating on changing the name for it.

also an idea for a name of this character is Aurora. Mostly because it seems humans that learn magic in the TDP universe can use all kinds of magic, and an aurora was seen as a collective mass of spirits and their respective magics traveling through the air. An example is Callum using both Sky and Moon magic. But this only matters if you want her to use magic at all.

I am not sure if I'd have her use magic, though I am rather inclined to do so. Honestly, I still have no idea what to do with her character. What her backstory is or who her family is or what her goals are... etc.

Personally I am a fan of the "From another world" trope. Be they from another dimension, time, or planet, or even something as simple as what you did with "Gone Batty" where Melody goes from the human world to the animal world. and world being a matter of perspective. But that could also be because I like good crossovers. lol
as for a backstory you could have her come from a completely different continent. Maybe she got shipped wrecked, and is trying to find a way home. If you go with giving her magic her family could all be powerful mages with a strong connection to one of the Arcanum, by you OC could be having trouble connecting with one, so one of her goals is to learn magic along side Callum. Or she could have been sent to the lands in the show to investigate the rumors of powerful Dark magic users. Maybe you could event invent a form of Light magic to combat Dark magic. Where Dark takes away life, Light gives/restores it. I don't know these are just some ideas
she is your character so you ultimately decide on the who and what.

We'll see. I actually REALLY love your idea of "Light Magic". Granted, I kinda see the actual primal magic to be light magic in itself since it's the essence of magical creatures. But we'll see. ^_^

Maybe "Light Magic" could be the source of the other primal sources? Like light was the original and Dark magic is just a perversion of it. I'm also glad you like that idea, and feel free to use it if you want.
Another idea is they could use "Shadow Magic" a form of magic that focuses on more ghostly abilities like intangibility, but draws power from the Shadow Arcainum, and unlike Dark magic, it doesn't drain the life force of other beings to use

I can’t wait for the 3rd season. X3 I feel like there wasn’t enough world building in season 2, but I understand why. There was a lot of focus on character development. Maybe a little too much. But I won’t call it a flaw.
