I saw someone's idea of an alternate universe in which Kaede was the proactive protag with Rantaro as her chill sidekick. I couldn't help but stay up all night to do this sketch after that idea.

In my alt universe, I'd imagine that the mastermind was actually killed in case 1, but the killing game would just continue regardless. Just imagine Rantaro at unease with his identity, and others maybe starting to believe he was the mastermind. Until the end, in which he's find out he was a survivor and then the perspective shift to argue against Kaede in the whole hope debate in order to do what he couldn't last time, end the killing game once and for all. Fun thing to think about
