Description
This is the lineart of a birthday card I drew for a co-worker. Man oh man, I forgot how long it takes to draw with a good old pencil! This took HOURS, and then hours longer to ink. She is missing her face because I plan to color her traditionally, and will not be using black ink for the facial features. This was time consuming but a lot of fun. All told, I think it'll be a 12 hour production, at the least. On to the flaws... I know that her torso is too big for her lower half, that I didn't make her rear big enough or her legs long enough, and her right hand is too big. I'm also aware that the lettering is crooked. What may not be obvious is that I replaced the center of the circles because I'd inked them in red before recalling that I was going to submit this to the #color-me-club for others to color. Also, I'd drawn one of the Fu bats (on the woman's bottom left) before drawing the flower next to the longevity symbol in the circle, so I had to cram the flower in over the bat. That looks a wee sloppy, so I touched it up. Finally, I added lines that are not actually on the card, because they represent the boundaries of the card itself.
This card is jam packed with symbolism (most of it Chinese and related to food.) The rabbit on the noodle bowl represents this lunar year, and peaches and noodles represent longevity. Dried oysters represent happy events, but it's hard to draw dried oysters in a way the average person would recognize, so I went with fresh, lol. A whole fish represents abundance, oranges for prosperity, apricots for beauty. The 5 Fu bats are considered very good luck, and a pearl necklace represents purity (which balances the glass of wine she's raising in a toast, lol.)
If you color this lineart, credit me by deviant name and by posting a link back to this dev. You may NOT alter the lineart except to add facial features. Do not remove my signature from the lineart. If you do not abide by these rules and you color and post my lineart anyway, you will be asked to remove it from your gallery.
In case you cannot tell (and wish to be accurate rather than fanciful in coloring,) the fruit surrounding her are peaches (on her right,) oranges (above her head,) and apricots (on her left.) She has orange blossoms in her hair. The objects under "Feliz" are oysters (one has a pearl,) the object under "Sano" is a bowl of noodles, and the two whole fish are koi. She has a string of pearls coiled around her hand and on her neck. The text reads "Seas Bendita Feliz Sano Prospero," which means "Be blessed, happy, healthy, prosperous" in Spanish.
While I didn't use any images as exact reference images, I did draw upon a couple of poses (and leaf shapes) to get started. I think that still merits credit.

Looks great for some weird reason I prefer this one over the one that's already filled in.
