I used legit picture of space. I can't do cosmic things via tablet because of how specific the colors have to be.

Do it under all of your other layers. Hide your sketch and skeleton if you do that and put the pattern or whatevs under your lineart and all your colors, then you have to erase all the extra. I used the eraser a lot doing these.
