Description
I get a lot of questions about making corsets, so I spent the last few months creating an instructable on how to make a steampunk underbust corset. The image above is the finished corset![link] <----Link to How to Make a Steampunk Corset instructable. Thank you so much to those who voted for me in the Epilog contest; I'm a finalist!

Ah, thank you! I attended a fashion show last week, and one of the girls I modelled with was lucky enough to get to wear an amazing Steampunk corset. She said it was comfortable enough that she would wear it everyday. So now I want one. XD

I definitely will. It may take a while for me to get around to making it. Finding materials probably won't be too easy... XD

Thank You, Thank You, and Thank You again!
The steps are try easy to follow and very detailed. I couldn't have begun to fathom how to make a corset until I found you and this amazing tutorial. I have gone out and made one and now making a second in a different color. This has helped me and began a sewing bug I never thought I would get back.

If it's fitted you can still breathe, but you do end up sitting up very straight!

This is a really cool corset and the tutorial is great! ^^ Though I've got a kinda dumb question: is there suppose to be a 1/4" boarder when it's printed? I made sure that it wasn't scaled any when I printed it.

Sorry about the delay, there is supposed to be a 1/4" border. I made it that way because some printers don't print all the way to the edge.

Hello there!
I really love this corset and I'm halfway through making it, but I had a quick question. In part 5 of step 5 you say to stitch a 3/8-inch bone casing on the side and front pieces, but a 1/4-inch bone needs to be inserted in the space. How will that work?
Thanks so much!

LillysWorkshop In reply to cjwolfer [2011-12-12 05:21:09 +0000 UTC]
If you make it 1/4 inch it's too tight for the bone to slide in. It gives the bone room to slide in, while still being tight enough to hold it in place.
Sorry about the delay in responding, hope that helps!

It's all good! I wasn't thinking straight when I asked, but I got it eventually. The corset came out just as I'd hoped, and if I post it here I'll definitely give a link to your site.
Thanks so much!

Awesome. A friend sent me a link to this. Though beautifully explained, I suspect it's way beyond my skills, but I'm still thrilled to be able to thank the originator! So many thanks, I might give it a shot if I can scrounge the money for the materials

I found you on Instructables and immediately faved your tutorial, it's the best I've found so far. Actually, I don't know much about sewing and always stayed away from trying to make a corset because it felt like a daunting task, thanks to you I'm finally thinking that I could give it a try!
