Well, I don't know what would spoil the moment for Oliver, but if Oliver can't understand him, that will probably ruin the moment for Ash.
And Ash hasn't attacked him...yet... I wonder if that Pokeball has changed Ash mentally at all after being caught.

I now expect Ash to be super-loyal to Oliver due to the "power of the Pokeball". Haha, it'd be hilarious if the Pokeball caused him to have a split personality or something (and technically, with him being a Pikachu, he already has a split personality, half the time he thinks like a human abd the other half, he thinks like a Pikachu). XD

What a beautiful moment, and probably the happiest one of Oliver's life. You did great conveying the emotion in this scene, down to the hesitation to reach out and the beginnings of tears in Oliver's eyes.

Thank you, I'm glad you think so. One of the main reasons this page took so long was I wasn't sure what I wanted to go for -- this scene could have been humorous, heart wrenching, or touching, depending on how I timed it. I decided in the end to go for the last (and most difficult) option, and there I was endlessly tweaking Oliver's expressions to make sure they conveyed the emotion I wanted. His hands were really important, too, so I actually took pictures of my arm in the position I wanted and traced over it. ^^
I'm glad it all worked and got the emotion across β₯
