Description in the midst of planning my designs out for yet another t-shirt design, (screen printing the NIGHT CAT busses... yay for the public Clemson Area Transit! free rides for everyone! hehe )

... I came across 's [CMYK Series project] --- so i thought... I'll take my ideas, work on it for this CMYK, and sort it out for my t-shirt design afterward.
since [the CAT website] lacked pictures, I went to the bus station today, took my own digitally, and worked with the pen tool in photoshop (i love vectors, but i havnt mastered Illustrator well enough to compare to PS)...
and heres what came out!
this is my first vector project, ever. so... i hope you like it! and if you do, maybe youll see more.

What you are being is an artist. You are intrigued by art. Mr. Jones wants to find the bus station. He is late for his job interview. K?

Heh.

Go to Japan. There is a quality to their art/ads that will blow you away. They have more, per square inch than we, in this country, can fathom. Yes, it is a tolerance thing. Yes, it depends where you come from. But if you want to make blurry art that ends up as so much white noise, be my guest. The walls are filled with them. That doesn't help the ad agency's bottomline. Nor his customer.

Clarity in art. And writing. Same thing. I'm into writing now. It has more bite..to me. than doing art.

The buses look nice.

Again, per my own tastes, I'm not keen on the fonts. Too hard to read. I'm fussy that way. Never was one for 'art' in graphic design. The point to graphic design is communication. Clarity.

Just my view. Again, ignore this if you don't see my view.

i do see your view on this one thing. the others, not so clear yet. but i would like to.

you like graphic design to be clear. simple. direct. ..yes?

i like this too.

but i also like graphic design that is ironically messily-organized. sometimes this works. i absolutely LOVE it when i see something, it immediately flicks a light inside of me, and i dont understand what the picture is, and i have to come back and sit there for a while and study it. i LOVE that. i love to find little details, to keep my eyes moving. and i like it when things are unclear so that people can have their own interpretation.

these are two different techniques. and how that they are applied and to where they are applied, is up to the certain purpose/project and the theory beind the artist's concepts.

I love CMYK. Spiffy buses. I want to see you master illustrator. From my own experience it takes tons of practice.

thanks times a bunch for that, it really made me happy to hear from one of my top fav artists on deviantart. your vector stuff is awesome, i admire your work. yeah, i have illustrator but photoshop is so much more friendly with me. i guess im more used to pixels rather than vectors. im a bit timid with learning a whole new program and tools and interface. i spent a good couple hours trying to learn it, but it frightened me away after too many failed attempts. i guess it just takes a good warming-up-to, and practice.

ya totally, i took a class like 90% photoshop, and when he introduced illustrator, we all rejected it, but now since the pen tool feature is like 200% better than ps, i had to change and its not too hard, if u know how to use ps pen tool it should only be easier because its way easier to use and fill color etc, the only problem with illustrator is that i cant export jpegs through illus, so i export from illus to photoshop, then photoshop to jpeg, its not too hard, msg me if u have more problems!

can you copy and paste paths, from PS to illustrator? or... export a file from ps to illustrator... i like my bus, and i'd like to work with it in illustrator, like you recommended.

right now im at school, can't work (play?) until i get home. bleh.

this is what i would do, if u open a ps file in illus, u dont need to export or anything, but the whole ps image will become flat and like a jpeg, so wat i would do is open the ps in illustrator, redo the bus only cuz ur background is good rite, and just export the illus bus to photoshop, if its confusing ask away

basically from ps to illus its flat image and illus to ps its different layers according to layers u used in illustrator

mkays, thats good then. coz i was fiddling for the past half hour with options to fill the whites with, and nothing would work out visually. it was a good idea to have them unified though. ive looked through the submissions, these are all pretty swank.

ya its pretty cool, actually i jest thought up, u can select the white layers, and add a layer of grey on top or something and multiply it, but then that wud be hard to get the cmyk or grey color, all good
