this was shot old school with film on a Yashica-D twin lens- medium format. I used Kodak T-max 400 film.

Story behind the lens. You got the point, and the lighting helps a lot. Nicely work!

First off, before I possibly offend you, the artist, or anyone else, the photo is really quite good. It has a really well developed feeling of depth. Onto to the point I made a big deal over. By the looks you're getting from the Koreans on the train, I immediately came to the assumption that you were white. I say this because the older woman in the foreground is giving you a suspicious look. The Korean people are pretty welcoming, but you can't really work out that last little bit of suspicion towards foreigners; especially if you're snapping a photo on the subway like that. Finally, if you're a foreigner in Korea, you're most likely white. Behold! Super Korean powers of deduction!

I think the odd looks are more at the old twin lens camera way up in the ceiling than the foreigner. If they were annoyed at me they would have been looking down at me instead of the camera. Their expressions really didn't change much if any for the camera, they simply looked up.

i see you point well.
my dream in my lifetime is to become an journal photographer and write down my perservites on other places all over, japan i want to save for last, (save the best for last as they say)
my mother's from the old school and is always trying to brainwash me an saying that Japanese don't like N*****
trufully people an other races aren't really raciest toward one another...just careful, and so they'll give looks to an person that different than them, cause ya kinda stick out..ya know?
I not raciest to anyone in any race..but after 9/11 i..sort of keep my wits about me when i see an Iranian..but I'm not going to start trowing rocks an shit at him or her.. cause I'm not ignorant.
sorry for me rambling on and butting my nose into your comment....honestly..sometimes i feel that i should write an book..an blog at lest.

I love that there is so much emotion in this picture, almost a sadness, but I love it!

This photo goes perfectly with the song "Bibo No Azora" by Ryuichi Sakamoto.
It helps that I'm listening to it now.
I guess it's kinda that sad and lonely tone, and some kinda interesting hope shining through.
Or like, a dream.
Who knows?
Great job.

It looks to me as if someone uses a Holga...
I have one myself you see and I am absolutely loving your style with this. Very well put together and a perfect selection for a DD.

I do use a Holga, but this was shot with a Yashica-D twin-lens...

Ahhh... Well I simply assumed that the light leaks were from the crapply made but very excellent Holga. But I do like the Yashica-D as well but haven't had a chance to work with one yet.
Cheers!

I guesstimated on the focus and as the train came into the next station I held my camera above my head as high as I could get it aiming behind me. I took the shot just before the doors opened.

first off i am a sucker for a black and white ... good choice ... second ... i love the light and contrast ... and just a side note ... i know them expressions ... they are the same as the ones here where i am ... only on nicer looking people ... with a bit more of light heartedness to them ... wonderful work ... ^_^
