I've been reading an embarrassing amount of Labyrinth fanfiction lately, and it's depressing how many authors make Jareth out to be this horrible, violent, cruel, generally unfeeling wretch who takes out his jilted aggression on poor grown-up Sarah.The appeal of Jareth is the appeal of all good villains; yes, he's a bastard. He's manipulative and arrogant and abusive of his power, but he's also very clever, romantic, softspoken, and goodness, he does try.
My point is that I get tickled all to heck when I find an author who gives me exactly what I crave, and one of them is Kytten , whose short n' sweet one-shots are the antidote for every angst pie I've accidentally swallowed.
This is fan art for one of her stories, in which Sarah, after three years without a word from Jareth, says fuck it, packs a few things and goes back to the Underground. Jareth discovers her hanging out in the garden, waiting for him. The cookie was my idea. It is a raspberry jam cookie.
I have various issues with this, but the funniest are these: because Jareth's gloves are black, it kind of looks like he has no hands. And I meant for Jareth to be looking at Sarah, but since the cookie is directly between him and Sarah, he appears to be confused and beguiled by the jam cookie, and not the girl he's been pining for. I'm wondering how many more times I can put Jareth and cookie in the same sentence.

Holly crap! I had already admired you for your amazing talent and love for Alice + Reggie, but that admiration has just been amplified now that I see you also like Labyrinth. I just saw the movie for the 1st time in forever and this just kicks ass.

I may have commented this before, but I just noticed something that may not come as a surprise to you: Sarah's shirt crease on her right arm, the one holding the cookie, matches up to the bush's archway.
I thought it was just my eyes playing a trick on me, showing me that the bush was being viewed through a partly transparent arm, buuuuuuuut~ It's not.

I love how you draw the folds in the clothes; it's so realistic. Can you give me any tips on that? I have a hard time drawing that kind of thing off the top of my head; usually I have to look at something similar to draw the clothes(etc.) correctly. Sorry if I'm being pushy.
I am addicted to Labyrinth and I haven't even seen it. Naturally this drives me to wanting to draw as many fanarts as possible and then realizing that I either lack the knowlage of the characters' features or the ability to draw the clothes. Sorry for this long comment.

As for drawing folds in clothes, I guess you just sort of have to observe fabric and the way gravity pulls it around, you know? I mean, you learn from watching. I look at my own clothes to see how they fall on a person. Just practice, practice, practice.

Seriously, the only author I know who does that is Subtilior, and as awesomesauce as she is, I'm with you, I can't STAND scary!Jareth because he's FRIGGING SCARY, no joke! And canon!Jareth is definitely NOT on my list of scary people, closer to my list of 'SO G-rated, but so good' list. Except those PANTS. Which are in a league all by themselves.
Anywizzle, if you wanna read some good charming, taunting, fun, crazy Labby fic with non-freaky!Jareth... *cough* I kinda sorta might have a fic along those lines... possibly.
I do, it's 10 chapters in already on dA, lots o' people (lots here meaning 3) love it and, I personally think it's the greatest thing since Shakespeare, but that's just me...

An enjoyably irreverent rendition of an old favourite - I love how playful this is. It kinda makes me wonder what it might've be like if she'd stayed with him after all - maybe they'd have got on all right. And it's a great reminder of just how effortlessly cute Jennifer Connelly was back then ...

lol i love it! i hav a bad habit of readin labyrinth fanfiction from time to time, however i dont generally run into any tht i dont like. every now and then, i do find one with sarah gettin raped and abused in someway by some one other than jareth though. he just comes to her rescue

Amazing, and funny. I always adored Jareth. And I never really considered him a bad guy. He was only doing what Sarah asked and he did so much for her really. He just didn't like how ungrateful she was

Thank you for making a sweet, playful Labyrinth piece. Your style is absolutely gorgeous. I love the way you depict anatomy (sorry if that sounded too technical) and the way you color it. This piece just has so much life in it.
Secondly, thank you for providing that awesome link. I know exactly how you feel about bad Labyrinth fanfiction. Some of it has driven me close to tears or pulling my hair out, and, like you said, those short stories were really refreshing.

I could see Reggie handing Alice a rose like that.
Alice would be walking out of the Queen's maze(I know it's in Paris) or out of the 'wishing well garden' maybe holding a child's hand and Reggie surprises her handing her a white rose(because white is better then Redd) Alice would be so unsure what to do. Would she take it so not to seem rude in front of the child, and risk giving Reggie the wrong sign, or does she refuse the rose and risk making people at the park sad she refused(Which is against the rules of the park I believe)
