One of the panels from my Labyrinth art meme -- you got cheated! ;DThis is my favorite scene in Labyrinth. (Me, and like, every other girl who watches it) It kills me how Jareth spends the movie up to then taunting and eluding her, making her quest pretty miserable. She's looking for him in the crowd of masqueraders and he brushes past her, laughs at her, teases her, and then suddenly there she is right in front of him, and she's all he wants. He's completely owned by her. It's that beautiful ballet of power. So romantic it makes my head swim.
I spent more time on this one than the other panels, and it's pretty, I think. The dark side of Sarah's face gave me hell, though. She's so impossibly beautiful that I can never get her right. But I think I did a pretty good job on Jareth.

Yeah. They just kinda stuck. Now that I'm so used to drawing big ears, I might as well give Jareth the biggest set he's ever seen!
Yes, looking at other's art and pictures sure helps, but when I'm working at the bookstore and I pass that manga which shall not be named, I just fall apart. Nahhh, not so much as when I have not one single pencil stroke on paper. That's what gets me. Who knows, I just might have something up soon, sketched, inked and colored....of Jarth doing something he would never actually do.
I'll just do the magic dance to get the creative juices flowing.

I just watched the movie for the first time last night - I liked it

Jareth's perfect, and the coloring is beautiful.
Sarah's-face-wise, I think a lot of the oddity might lie in her nose taking up too much of her face, and her chin being sloped too inward, compared to the rest of her facial structure.
Jareth's hair and the spray of dots in the background get you uber-props.

Totally. I feel like a lot of the problem is with her mouth. Connelly's mouth was so perfect and plush, and I always end up making her cute teeth too rabbity. It's so hard to get it right.

If the lower lip stuck out a bit more, that would probably fix the plush factor. And I think the teeth look a bit rabbity because they don't quite fit the perspective? They are curved slightly like a U, concave, if you will, and the viewer seems to be looking slightly up at the picture. So, technically the teeth should probably look more like a U rotated clockwise 90 degrees. Or, er... Kind of like a C, smushed in perspective as to where the teeth closest to the viewer (on Connelly's left side and her front teeth) are concave (along the top part of the severly squished C), and you can see some of her right-side teeth along the more convex part. Or maybe a better visual aid would be to think of teeth as a horseshoe along the roof of the mouth, in this case viewed at a slight upward angle?
Did that make any sense at all? If it doesn't, I blame it on the ridiculously late/early time and the amount of sleep I'm running on. I would try to do an ASCII rendition, but I have a feeling that would fail miserably.

Definitely my favorite scene in the movie, as well. And is it just me, or does the Ballroom scene seem like a turning point. As though everything else was just a fascade, and he finally allows himself to admit, for a time, why he really let her call him.

Absolutely. A friend of mine said this, and I felt the same way, that when we were younger and we saw this, we were really confused by the ballroom scene, because up until then he was like, being so mean to her. Sending the Cleaners after her, dropping her into the oubliette, dangling her above the Bog... And then suddenly he's singing this love song to her and looking completely entranced by her.

So I adored the fact that Jareth's hair suddenly had blue streaks in it during this scene.. lol, fancy. I think you did an AMAZING job on BOTH Jareth and Sarah. Ughhh. Gorgeous. Wish. I. Was. Her.
And, yes, I adore that teasing smile Jareth makes as Sarah passes him by in the ballroom w/o noticing him <3

Sarah looks so pretty and bewildered and Jareth the ever seductive confident GK we love.
and there was no kiss, yet a kiss would have been "wrong" with Sarah's age and all, but the kiss....we were all hoping for a kiss, but no, so confusing....and the reason my dad got rid of our video.
