Description Jenny in her bedroom, listening to blue beats.

It was fun to fill up the space with the junk of her life. She never has money, so her television is secondhand from a friend. (Lucky for her LOST is on a basic channel.) Her laptop (an iBook G4, natch) was a present from her momma, and the headphones she swiped from an old boyfriend who had aspirations of becoming a sound mixer. Her fondest memory of him is the day he accidentally knocked out one of his front teeth and she took a bunch of goofy Polaroids of him. He could always make her laugh, but he just wasn't the one.

She's been feeling sort of grumpy and blue lately. Ennui, is the word for it. She can't get her mojo going and it's making her moody and sorry for herself. Her boyfriend Jude kind of doesn't know how he's supposed to handle it, but because he's a gentleman and completely in love with her, he just gives her her space. One of the letters on her bureau is from him.

She'll come around once she washes her hair and gets hungry for pizza. It's no fun to eat pizza alone. Plus Jude can really snazz up a pizza. Goat cheese, tomatoes, crumbled up sausage and some good spices and shit that he won't reveal to her. A man's got to have some aces to play.

Brilliant perspective on this one.

Cave-time music? Anything by Verdi, though Va Pensiero is simply beautiful.

I don't hardly ever favor things ever, in fact I believe this is my first, I'll have to check...But this picture is absolutely pure but what does it for me is the little story at the bottom...brings me in and hangs me from the ceiling like I've been there for months...

Love it.

I am so in love with the perspective on this piece, but there's something just slightly off about her anatomy I think. Maybe her chest is too long/her shoulders are a little high up? I'm just nitpicking though, it really is great. I love all the stuff in her room.

I love the light in this picture. How did you do it? It is absolutely gorgeous! In response to your question, I usually listen to something by Within Temptation, New Order, or the Corinne Bae station on my pandora account. (Pandora.com, if you do not know, is a free radio that is amazing and has everything(even my beloved gregorian chant!)

My cave time tunes vary, I guess. It all depends on what I'm in the mood to listen to. I've found that those unique beats from Gorillaz help me get into that focused mood when I draw. It's either that or stuff from Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. I'm big on the whole jazz/big band type music now, the kind that just makes you want to swing dance yourself right through life. I'm trying desperately to pull away from music that I've deemed "The music everybody listens to". It's too repetitive to me and I feel I need to have music in my collection that's different and not of everyone's main interest. You know?

Anywho...

It's good to see Jenny back in the mix of things. Every girl deserves a little down time and you've displayed that wonderfully.

I'm experiencing a little cave time right now myself.

Me, too, sister.

I know what you mean about wanting some obscure music. I depend on my family and friends for new stuff. But then, I'm spoiled, because my family has the best taste in music, and I'm a born music snob.

I love the feel of the picture. It makes me feel at peace in slightly quirky way?

As far as cave music, I listen to mostly Eels. Their older music is great for releasing my angst-y moodiness.

Very much liking this, but could be because I recognize myself in the character... Nothing quite as relaxing as running around half naked, listening to good music
On the technical aspect I really like the clean lines and the fact that's it's not really colored. The soft light is very atmospheric.

theammonal In reply to ??? [2009-03-07 08:11:14 +0000 UTC]

I can't really say anything that no one else had already said.

The ambient soft light has that gentle feeling that she's at peace and content at the moment. She wants to enjoy herself and freedom and thus the reason she's almost naked. The dialogue indicates mostly second hand items and presents. A situation that most of us are in. Her room is small and simple, almost bare in itself. Even with the glow of the laptop alone, the darkened background mixes well with the light fixtures and how she is trying to relax, but the squint in her eye and the way her hand is on her forehead suggests it's not really working.

You don't see too many of these anymore. Good job.

I never like nude pictures for some reason, but I love this one. It's soft. It doesn't try to draw your attention to the fact she's half naked haha
And it's funny cause... you were talking about pizza, and below that was an advert for pizza XD

lily-fox In reply to erin-eosophobia [2009-03-07 11:16:19 +0000 UTC]

You know what's funny about how Jenny ends up naked so often... I draw her body with the intention of putting clothes on her, you know? But sometimes it just feels right without 'em. I think she's comfortable without clothes, at least when she's bumming around her room.

I've had a number of people say this about art with nudity, and I agree. I'm glad you like this one.

That's what I do alot, except not very much blue beat, neh? I listen to anything with a fast beat, keeps my energy level up a bit. Music seems to affect my energy, so classical is best before bed. Too much slow music and I get sad... so it helps none. And goat cheese is great on pizza! Garlic goes well on hot doggies.
