Description
Jenny in her bedroom, listening to blue beats. It was fun to fill up the space with the junk of her life. She never has money, so her television is secondhand from a friend. (Lucky for her LOST is on a basic channel.) Her laptop (an iBook G4, natch) was a present from her momma, and the headphones she swiped from an old boyfriend who had aspirations of becoming a sound mixer. Her fondest memory of him is the day he accidentally knocked out one of his front teeth and she took a bunch of goofy Polaroids of him. He could always make her laugh, but he just wasn't the one.
She's been feeling sort of grumpy and blue lately. Ennui, is the word for it. She can't get her mojo going and it's making her moody and sorry for herself. Her boyfriend Jude kind of doesn't know how he's supposed to handle it, but because he's a gentleman and completely in love with her, he just gives her her space. One of the letters on her bureau is from him.
She'll come around once she washes her hair and gets hungry for pizza. It's no fun to eat pizza alone. Plus Jude can really snazz up a pizza. Goat cheese, tomatoes, crumbled up sausage and some good spices and shit that he won't reveal to her. A man's got to have some aces to play.

I think you misread me. I say, I fall in love with everybody. So does Jenny. I commit, but she doesn't.

Hmm, whatever I'm into at the time, usual something calm. The song from the Lays commercial is really addictive. XD

Jenny's been growing her hair out....? It looks nice.
I really love the highlights shown. It gives it a quiet tone, with the sepia really adding to it.
When I feel I need my space, I tend to listen to a lot of A Perfect Circle; "Brena"... and really a lot from Mer de Noms seems to do it for me.
Tool also seems to be very thought-provoking, depending on the songs.
I think that some songs from Mouse On Mars have an ambient and somewhat space-like atmosphere to them. Send Me Shivers and Cache and Couer Na are favourites of mine.

Admittedly, I do love the blues, more and more lately. Have you perchance seen the Public Enemies trailer? It's a new Depp/Bale movie coming out soonish. The song at the end of the trailer is called Ten Million Slaves (by Otis Taylor). Amazing.

When I'm moody and p.o'd at the world, Imogen Heap and Coldplay are my best friends. Anything chill and mellow that just makes every problem seem stupid

Seriously, Lily, this is fabulous! The light smudging her left thigh looks amazing! (not that the the other lights don't, but that really caught my attention.) So, she seems to have a poster *you* did on her wall. What is it? (I realise it's just a nifty spot to sign your work, but you have to admit, the notion of her having one of your pieces is kind of a fun thought...) And I love the different emotions and thoughts etched on her face. She's thinking about either something serious or something seriously.
So, as for cave music...h'mmm...It depends on my my mood...Usually I drag out my "Hackers" soundtrack or "La Femme Nikita" for some really old techno and electronica, Imogen Heap's "Speeding Cars" for something melancholy, or the album "Nomad" by Jesse Cook, which goes with anything.

Hee hee... The poster, I don't know. I just drew some waves because I dig them. (When I doodled at work, it was almost always waves.)
I luh you.

beautiful--i love neutral tones, and i love to see a character in their environment. too many "character designers" believe that the character itself will carry the design--not so. the thought that you put into surroundings, histories, personalities, moods etc etc is nice to see, and i'm sure very rewarding for you.
oh, and bright eyes or elliott smith. something about crooning depressed prodigies, i guess.

Gorgeous as always. I had to explain to my husband that the boobs were actually right, so you get extra props. I love her little panda, and how the books have names. It's good to see a new drawing from you, I miss your amazing art. I love the detail of the posturing on the left hand, and the alternative lightsourcing is awesome.

I could only fit a few titles in there, but they're not really indicative of who she is, just a bunch of books I have. She's got the two-volume Shogun collection, a photo book of Cleveland, The Joy of Cooking and an art book called 500 Brooches. It's really cool!

I can definitely sympathize those "ennui" moments Jenny has. You've captured the in-a-funk, bored atmosphere really nicely, and I like the birds-eye-view. That and seeing how Jenny's things really shape her.
In those times, it'd definitely be Mutemath on my headphones.

It's really interesting to get a glimpse into her life. Despite not having a lot, she still seems pretty content. The anatomy looks pretty solid and I love the color you used (+ the shading and highlights).
My downtime music? Hmm. I think Imogen Heap's my girl.

I feel Imogen Heap.

When I want to have some time to myself to cool down, I listen to all sorts of things from Yellowcard to Ludo, from Nightwish to Within Temptation, from Meg and Dia to Tegan and Sara, with Tom Petty and Dar Williams and Frank Sinatra mixed in.
Jenny really is lovely. I like that you write little stories that explore the lives and minds of your characters, it makes them seem more...real. Like I'll just be randomly walking around San Antonio and see a beautiful girl with a mohawk and a shirt that has Cleveland printed on it.
Hmm...sitting in your room listening to tunes shirtless. I must try it sometime.

Why thank you.
The Riverwalk is really nice. Have you ever been there? I think I remember in one of your scraps you mentioned Jenny wanting to go there...
San Antonio is a blast. It's rough-edged and scary, but once you hit downtown it's like a party that doesn't stop (granted, it's full of tourists, but what can you do?). 8D
It would be awesome to meet Jenny and Jude someday.

When I'm... introspective, I like to listen to soft, meloncholy songs. I guess, when you're a little blue, you want to be blue. At least, I do. I don't want to cheer up too fast. It's not self-pity... more like, self-inquirey.
