My last day of babysitting, and yet I still managed to produce a short little comic about Cyborg 009...And a Doodle of Pyunma and Baby Ivan...
I will also have you know that I am a hard core muppets fan as well and for some reason I always joke that 007 and 006 always reminded me of Ernie and Bert in a way. Just their chumminess and obvious bromance. And today was the day that I explored the joke. This is probably funnier than my last one, it requires a lot less explaining.
007 and 006 look like suck cause I was drawing them from memory and didn't have a reference. Future art of them will be better I promise.
Muppets/Sesame Street should always be attributed to Jim Henson, I don't care if Disney now owns Muppets, Henson should always get the credit, even in death.
Speaking of dead, Cyborg 009 is owned by Ishinomori.

I've been trying really hard to keep some of their original style in there when I draw them, but I must have OCD about my own style or something because I have anatomical habits that I just can't seem to break... so I figure I can blend and it not be too big a deal. Drawing Pyunma there I did kind of keep him in my own regular style. But I like drawing Pyunma because he is so under appreciated as a character and is, frankly, the cyborg all the other fans seem to forget or neglect. I cheer for the underdog. XD Really, 004 is pretty much my favorite, but I really can't pick a second favorite... except for Joe. If everyone else is my second favorite, Joe is my third. XD

I love drawing Pyunma too, I don't understand why he isn't more popular, he's such a great character, just like Geronimo, GB or Chang.
004 is awesome, such a tradig character. I usually like those calm guys, I don't know how Apollo ended being my favourite. That red-head is just epic.

I think I like 004 because I like the Tin-Man from the Wizard of Oz... really. It's hard to explain, but I've always been fond of the Tin-Man Complex that you find in characters that are conflicted over their own humanity. Even if it's not necessarily that they've gone from human to machine. Basically take the line: "If I only had a heart" and blow it out of proportion... then you have 004.
I think Pyunma gets less attention because he really doesn't seem to bitch. For Joe... life always sucks... always... and he bitches non-stop. Franny's the only girl so by default some attention is cast on her. 002 is too iconic not to notice, and his brash, cocky behavior draws your attention. 004's past and his constant philosophical ramblings and moping and stuff draw your attention. And then you have 006 and 7, they're a comedy duo. A lot of the laughs are thanks to their very animated and funny personalities but Pyunma and Geronimo? As much as they're great characters unfortunately they were heavily underwritten in the original manga (I've read up to vol 5 of the Tokyo Pop version and waiting for my sister to give me the rest. >> She's greedy and hasn't parted with them yet.) and they are collected, calm, clear thinkers who know they're job and do it right, and you know when they go out to do their job there's very little probability of them fucking it up allowing comedy to ensue, so they often don't get to be the subject of attention because they are good at what they do, and very calm and thoughtful people so they're not given to brash and loud emotional reactions like Jet is.

Jet was my first favourite character when I started watching the show. He's one of the characters you just can't hate.
I've read the manga too, and I agree that the protagonists overshadow some characters and that's a pity.
Assassins needs more love.

I know, that's why I said "Life always sucks for Joe" because it does. In the 2001 anime the guy can't stop falling off of cliffs. They're everywhere. I imagine at some point he's gotta look behind him and say to the assassin: "What the fuck man? Every time I get in a pinch a cliff appears as my only way out? Is this some kind of sick joke from the universe on me!? >I I mean it'd be one thing if they changed it up sometimes. But for fucks sake." and then he does a swan dive off the cliff because, well, why not. He knows he's gonna have to jump anyway, might as well not pitch about while falling.
But also, Cyborg 009 was written out when protagonists really did outshine the rest of the cast, that is how they became the protagonist/leader of their group. Now a days you don't see that as often, wanting to give equal air time to all the main cast, but in the 50s and such the highlight of your story is the main character, and the side characters are there to help better him and make him more interesting to see. Look at Mickey Mouse, Donald and Goofy. Originally, fans weren't very drawn to Mickey, he wasn't very funny himself, he's kind of the straight man, but people really loved the cartoons when you mixed Donald and Goofy with him because they were both very funny, and it was extra funny that Mickey, the straight man, was drawn into the chaos brought on by the other two. Goofy and Donald made Mickey better and more interesting, just as the rest of the cast help to make Joe into a more interesting character. They give Joe someone to feel compassionate for or who initiate philosophical conversations where Joe can throw in his two cents to reveal something about his character, but it may not have been a conversation that he would have necessarily started himself.
I think 0013 really could use some, 10 too probably, but with 11 and 12, they were rather vague characters and you really weren't introduced to them outside one or two ideas. 13 is probably the one I feel most sorry for, of all the characters in the entire show. Maybe because I used to spend a lot of time with the Special Needs kids when I was in school, and I could understand how his autism affected his life. A very intelligent boy, trapped in a body that hinders his ability to communicate just how intelligent he is, and so everyone treats him like he's an idiot or a big baffoon.

You're right, I agree. I'm glad that in 2001 anime there was episodes for Pyunma, Geronimo and GB. I don't know if they are based in manga beacuse I haven't read more than 10 books.
0013 is one of my favourites too. The show almost always shows some psychological issues about the assassins, just like it does with 0013 or Mythos cyborgs. It makes me feel more sympathy for them.

Part of me really wishes that Joe could have calmed Apollo down enough to save his life. I know he was grief stricken, but he shouldn't have had to die. But it was actually Pan's death that was REALLY horrible because he was a child!

I know, that would have been epic if Apollo joined 00-cyborgs. Yeah.. I cried at the end of mythos-episodes ,__, Poor Pan.. He was still loyal to his master Artemis. Artemis was a great woman too.

I didn't feel so bad that Hera died... she was a bitch. But Artemis, Apollo and Pan's death was really upsetting because Pan was just a child, and Artemis was an enlightened Cyborg, she was starting to see that not all humans needed to be destroyed, and Apollo, as far as villains go, wasn't really evil at all. Incredibly delusional? Yes. But not evil. Gaia was probably the only actual vile member of that group. Apollo honestly believed that he was a god, and that as a god he had the right to judge, and had observed that humans were mostly a plague on the earth. (They weren't entirely wrong about that. But the message was that the actions of some don't reflect the ways of all) but the Greek Gods were known to be kindda trigger happy anyway. Apollo was just behaving as he truly believed he should be. Had they managed to save him he could have been a great addition to the team, but at the very least, if he wanted he could go deposit himself somewhere and start trying to live a peaceful life... but then again, it would have been hard for him, what with having no memories of being a human and all he had to go by was his delusions. I guess Dr. Gilmore was right, if you wipe out their human memories they lack the necessary perspective.

No, he wasn't. And when he got brain washed and lost every memory of his past life, would there even be any reason not to believe Gaea. That's all he had in that point, and it somewhat gave him reason to live. But I also love how Apollo really seems to care about his sister. It was heartbraking to watch him when Artemis died.

That's how you know Apollo was never evil, delusional, but he honestly loved his sister and cared about the safety of the other gods. I think Hera was in on the whole deal from the start though. >>

I don't think he was intended to be hated, his character seems developed on the path that you would more or less pity him, despite his phenomenal powers, because his life becomes meaningless once he's seen the reality of things. That just seems to me how the character was written and how they attempted to play him off. Horribly sad if people hate him despite the blaringly obvious neon signs that read: "His is a sad and pathetic existence."

Yeah. Actually in the manga he wasn't as "Let's go and kill them"-like as he is in the anime. He really seemed to have respect for 009 by asking his name before they started fighting.
I don't know how he would make his living work in "real life" but I would have been curious to see that.

Me and my sister could only find up to 10 online. She'd given me the first five, but was too lazy to transfer the rest to my computer, but Biscuit made the art book available and so I saved the scans and basically said: "KC, give me the comic and I'll give you the art book." And now I have the comic! >D
