I mean, I used to be able to be able to look up artwork, like from, say, Final Fantasy, and I could find works that didn't clog up the page that either violently bashed a character (especially female. I'm highly against female character bashing) or made them very much like a Mary Sue.
And then there's the yaoi that's been popping up in increasing rates lately.

I don't mind it as long as it's cannon - actually proven to be true and not a made up fan pairing. Other than that, it makes them out of character. Take Axel/Roxas for example.

Everyone claims it's canon, but I fail to see romance. As far as I saw, they were uneasy friends at best, but very respectful of one another.
I have guy friends I'm extremely close with, but we are not gay or anything, it's just show of affection, and we are (as far as I know) all hetero anyway.

Yes, it's just friendship. Unfortunately, now days, no one can show affection to their friends without being accused of being gay or lesbian.
Trust me, it's most certainly NOT canon. I watched the interview with Tetsuya Nomura, and he himself straight to the camera said there was no relationship other than friendship.
Besides, Roxas/Namine is canon.
And if I had to choose who to pair up Axel with, it'd probably be Kairi, even though her and Sora are canon.

I think it's a phase -- or a fad, at least, a fad in the making. Sort of like the pet rock or jelly bracelets. It'll die out someday, like all fads. Nothing stays popular forever.

I really know it sounds a stretch, but I think this country (America) is heading towards legalizing crazy stuff like bestiality and underage marriages, and probably incest.

Ha. I've been on dA since 2005, started out with fan characters and had SHIT art, and now that I try to gear towards more original art but have improved on a personal level as an artist in general, I have LESS people who comment me and my work then I did then.
I don't care, but it just goes to show you prove a very valid point. (...Sadly.)
