Description Process of making Gwen using the ambient occlusion technique I learned from CG cookie (it's a really awesome website wow.)

1. sketch
2. lineart (I have a messy sketch so this part was necessary for me but if you sketch cleaner you can leave this part out)
3. Ambient occlusion. Putting shadows in the areas where light will never touch. You can see examples of this on 3D models.
4. Flat colors. Just like coloring your line art, except choosing darker colors (as if the subject where in shadow)
(optional) Use textures to add another level of detail to your work.
5. Lighting. the ambient occlusion makes this part really easy and fun. Pick what ever color you want your lightsource to be and set the layer to overlay start lightening the areas where the light touches. You can have multiple light sources.
6. Finishing touches. On a layer above all other layers start painting out areas that are messy. Use adjustment layers, and add anything else you want.
