Description
Well, this is my second attempt at what my mind really sees when i hear the word "Frumpy", but again, i think she's attractive. As i responded to pretty much everyone on the last one, "Frumpy" to me is (and i'm not using anyone else's description, but rather what the word "feels" like to me) more of a posture thing, slouched shoulders, body fat that hangs a little lower than most chubby girls, wearing t-shirts or tank-tops and old cardigan sweaters that you'd get at a thrift store, and geeky dress pants (that you'd also get from a thrift store, hehe) and with hair that is somewhat not easy to control.
More of a natural state of being, though, rather than a chosen "well, i don't want to look attractive today" type thing.
Though, those pants look more like pajama pants than geeky dress-pants. Perhaps if this was in color it would be easier to see that they were dress pants if i made just them gray. So i kinda feel like i failed again. And i made her hair messier than i wanted to, but i wanted it messier than the first "Frumpy Girl".
So, maybe this one is closer to being "frumpy" in the eyes of most others out there, if they picture the pants as pajama pants instead of geeky dress pants...
But i'm really proud of the striped shirt!
And again her legs look short, but again i assure you, it's just the way her belly hangs. Her hips start above the bottom of the cardigan.

I believe it's the first time I see someone draw a girl that's frumpy-sexy. There are geeky-sexy and girl-next-door-sexy, but this is someting completely new.

Aww, she's awesome too! And I think those pants actually look really comfy, but not in a pajama kind of way.

Dunno if this is an appropriate thought , but I immediately thought "oh, Maurice Moss female version" when I saw this. (In other words: what a cutie autie. heh heh.)

Well, I agree with you, the legs do seem short, but I took it as a cartoony appeal. As she seems more cartoony than some of your other work. Needless to say she's fantastic, she looks fun to be with. Like a really laid back person, doesn't really get offended when people call her fat, because she doesn't care, she's happy with who she is.

Hehe, yah, i like that description! She'd be a good friend who'd play video games with you, or just be content to read a book while you read another book in the same room.

Yes, the cardy, the frizzly hair, the heavy-framed glasses and her expression really say "frumpy" to me this time around! I like her eyebrows especially.

OK, this is closer to frumpy. Still, with that chubby bit of tummy showing, she can't be too frumpy.

I myself am dating a gorgeously statuesque, mildly voluptuous woman with hairy armpits and a slight (but oh so enjoyably wobbly) belly on her. She wishes was a little more petite, even though she bought a bikini last year, just to spite the stuck up shop assistant that served her, but I love her for who she is, and the conversations that I have with her. Not all men out there want a Playboy model/WAG/all-purpose, identikit bimbo - we love/appreciate/worship/celebrate the beauty of REAL women, their so-called "imperfections" are what draw them to us. There, got that off my chest!

Yes, celebrate the imperfections, because that's how you know they're perfect for you! That's their individual beauty! When you try to get rid of that, then you're destroying your only true beauty.
Haha, i like that, all-purpose identikit bimbo! What's "WAG", though?
And that sounds like a fun time (showing up a stuck-up clerk), hehe. And cheers to you being a very lucky person! (i assume you're male, but you know how it is online!)

WAG? 'Wives And Girlfriends' - a phrase coined in the UK for the likes of Posh Spice and the partners of football players in the English Premier League ('"soccer" for you Yanks, out there). These are women whose only claim to fame is they spend their spouse/boyfriend's money, only to look like actresses off 'Hollyoaks' (trashy UK 'teen' soap - AARRRRRGGH!!), they have bleach-blond hair, an unatural orange complexion (around where I work, they're referred to as "Tango Princesses" - after the soft drink ads that were popular on telly in the UK in the 90's). They are seen by some as "role models"......hmmmm, really?!? I prefer natural women, with nothing enhanced.

How women like that can be considered role models is a horrifying thought ... Real women all the way!
Yah, posh spice has gotten really scary lately - she's a bone rack ... she used to be fleshy back in the earlier Spice Girls days - at least on that live concert. I so should not know this stuff, but for some reason, my group of "goth-hippy" friends in highschool were also obsessed with the Spice girls. For me it was because Geri, Baby, and Scary had real women's bodies, and weren't afraid to flaunt them. But i look back and cringe how heavy metal-loving guys and girls could also be obsessed with that pop crap. But it was only them, we hated all other pop crap groups, haha. Look at me coming up with excuses!

holy crap lauren?????? this looks EXACTLY like my friend lauren, right down to the clothes. this is a little closer to frumpy, but still not that frumpy. and agreeing with all the BBWs here, it is pleasant to know there are still renaissance men out there who love women for their bellies and jellies!
keep up the good work hun!

I definitely see the 'frumpy' in this. She's cute, and although I know you said otherwise, I think she has the attitude of "yes, I look this way, and I don't mind. I like who I am." And there's nothing wrong with that.
And, if I may... I have a sort of request. You draw all your ladies relatively short, and beautifully curved, but I wonder... how might you portray one who's much taller?
I ask, because I happen to have the shape of the ladies you draw, but I'm also rather tall for a woman. (Just a eensy bit off of six feet tall.) I have these long, rather shapely legs, and a figure that, even though I hear otherwise from media, I seem to like.
Anyway. Enough of my rambling.
I want to see a tall girl in your gallery. That's my humble request. Obviously all other details are up to you. I just thought I'd throw this out there.

LimeGreenSquid In reply to LadyYuna88 [2008-04-06 17:40:15 +0000 UTC]
Hehe, thanks. Yah, she does have the attitude of, "I don't care what you think," but she doesn't have the attitude of, "I'm trying to be invisible and hide myself," is what i was trying to say. I never want to portray a girl like that in my work, hehe. Big and confident!
Yah, well, i used to only draw taller women, and i have trouble figuring out how to draw shorter women. Especially shorter big women. I have a hard time figuring out where everything fits, hehe, so i've been trying to do more of that lately to teach myself. Most of my girls are average-height-ish. And sometimes it's hard to figure out how to draw a tall one, because there's no point of reference if they're by themselves. And when i draw 2 people together, they tend to not be the sizes i intend, hehe. Like that one i recently did - No Shame .
But, yah, i just posted a tall girl - a goddess of some sort, so not a real one like these frumpy girls (i should do that, too!), but i hope you like her!

I must admit, I have become a fan of yours recently due to the fact that you pride yourself on adoring the more voluptuous woman. I, myself, being in this particular category (although I do shave....unnecessary as it is, I personally don't like the look of it ) appreciate the fact that there are guys like you out there (my fience being one of them
) and I truly hope that although we who are not stick thin are not "beautiful" in the conventional sense, bring some people to their senses and become more open minded and thoughtful with there comments on us in society.
as for the drawing, its gorgeous and i sincerely never thought that a bigger woman could have been depicted any better
cutos my friend, cutos

Aw, thanks. I'm glad my work could inspire those feelings! And that is definitely one of my biggest goals - to show the beauty that i see so people can open their eyes instead of blindly following trends that tell you what you should think is beautiful, when you should decide for youreself.
