Description Time: 15:00:41 +0000 GMT
Date: 25 December 2007
Place: Unknown, York, England
Notes: I was testing out my zoom on the clock, and it actually came out okay considering. Burnt edges in Photoshop and bumped the contrast, exposure, and highlights. No editing of colour, though. Not sure if I'm entirely happy with it, but I don't dislike it, either.

I do like that all the lines are only going 2 directions. it makes it really interesting :3

There is a heavy sense of symmetry and order in this. I don't know if you planned for the clock to be exactly at 3 o'clock, which is one of only four (I think) possible times that could produce only vertical and horizontal hands.

I'm not particularly thrilled by the subject matter, but the colours and the composition are nice. It has a relaxing feeling to it.

Thankyou. :)
No, I didn't sit around waiting for the clock to chime three, hah. I've OCD it's true; but not to that extreme. :P

I am curious as to why you're not thrilled by the subject matter, though.

I thought this one would have garnered more attention than it has done, huh. I guess my tastes are obscure, or something. I like the tones but how did this one look in black and white? Some sort of split-tone would probably work well with this sort of subject matter. I'm fond of the way that the brickwork and clock elements angle in towards the centre at a symmetrical set of angles, yes-yes.

Also, I believe the structure to be the guild building just up the road from the castle keep, but I could be wrong.

There is a lot of noise on this that comes out when I lower the saturation - especially towards the bottom right corner of the clock-face. If I could figure out a way to mask that without making it look entirely manipulated, I'd definitely do it. It's interesting, though: the monochromatic version plays with an optical illusion of what direction the clock-face is actually appearing.

You may very well be right. My memory has that entire city smashed into one block for me. Hah. For all I know my Street deviation could be in the same spot as this clock and as the Minster. :B

I was going to say that I could look at my own shots and either verify or deny the location, but considering I appear to have deleted all the mostly-rubbish ones I don't think I can. Also, if you think that the noise detracts from the image too much I guess it is better off in colour, as it is the tones are muted enough to not stand out too much.
