when using acrylic what do you first use the light or dark color?

Hm...
First I paint the midtones using water to get a thin colour to work with. Then I lay in the darker and lighter areas. Think I do the darker parts first. There´s much blending and toning going on, and much detail work.
Don´t really have a method I always use, I´m quite new at painting actually. Don´t think I have produced more than 8 acrylic paintings, not even for practice
