Commissioned pic of a scene from my first novel The Cold Wind...Two-Talon, a Vanguard medic (left) and Tusker, a warrior (right) on a hunting trip to Two-Talon's home-world... They set out to hunt a rank-beast (large, six-legged omnivorous animal the size of a rhino), but in the end it it was an entirely different creature that was caught...

Rank-beasts... a large, 6-legged beast native to the Vanguard's home-world that wanders around in large herds and fills roughly the same ecological niche as a cow/buffalo etc. Mostly herbivores they also partake of meaty goodness if the opportunity arises. They breed quickly and form the largest part of the Vanguard diet - quite dangerous to hunt because they will readily and happily fight back if provoked... and Vanguard hunters deliberately provoke them for the challenge
Todex normally draws a lot of more adult oriented works (I've had a few from him of this nature that I cannot post on DA but have on my FA gallery) but he also excels at these more serious pieces.
