Good optical effects in this, Linda. The poppy(?) stands proud of the plane of the image, and despite being soft-focus the face is very much in our space.

All went as planned then....and yes, the poppy...I know it doesn't really 'belong'....yet it seemed to just want to 'be' there; and for that, it worked....- at least n my mind. (perhaps she is in part of English decent; and wanted to bring that into the main focus. )

I think the whole image works very well - I find it quite compelling. The poppy is essential. Oh, the weird ways our minds work.

Van Gogh experimented with borders. So, I did too with some of my oils. It would be interesting if you explore this more. Then: we will dissect them!!!!
