Description Several variations of a black matte dragon. I just LOVE how the bright primary and secondary colors light up against the flat black. Sad that I haven't found a suitably loud and flashy orange.

Aw what a nice thing to say!
My tricks:
Halogen desk lamp for supplemental lightΒ
+ existing light (natural daylight is wonderful, but best when it's overcast)
Velvet backdrops are my favorite (they absorb light so well, so they don't add nasty harsh reflections)
A tripod
A DSLR camera
A large white cloth to "bounce" light off of, again, to reduce harsh reflections
Sometimes I shine my desk lamp 'through' the white cloth to soften it even more, on particularly shiny objects
I experiment with my white balance, my aperture and shutter speeds to find the most flattering settings for each piece, and each set of lighting conditions
I hope this helps you dial in your own product photo style!Β

The translucent, shiny beads against the matte. opaque ones do pop really nicely. (I have the perfect orange for this. Pity I can't just hand you some of the beads.)

XD That would be AWESOME! I'd hand over some of my favorites too. I love trading beads and have a huge collection, including some very unusual size 11Β°s Don't you use those in your dragons?

Alaska and Norway are a bit far apart for that (unless you travel over the North Pole, I suppose). I'm a horrible, horrible bead addict. According to the labels on the tubes and bags I buy them in, I use 9/0 seed beads the most. I have no idea what sizes the other ones are.

9Β°? Wow. Those are hard to find in the U.S. XD
I have a few, but the color selection is sparse so it's not very practical for me to use them. I go with 8Β° for most of my dragons, I find they're sturdiest, holding their shape better. If I ever try the thread based dragons I'll probably go for ultra tiny, and use size 15Β° with 000 Nymo thread, and size 15 needles. It would be so cool to be able to wear them as earrings!
