Ah yes, the Valis series. I was also attracted by a female lead, but Famicom game is quite a mess, they tried to make something in vein of The Legend of Zelda 2 or Castlevania 2, but they failed big time. I barely finished the first level and with no continue passwords there's no way I'm gonna beat it ever. If Telenet would make an action platformer just like PC Engine or Mega Drive games it could be quite enjoyable.
On a side note, Reiko looks too happy here. As you might know, she fights Yuko to the death at some point of the game, so her facial expression should have been different.
