The era I grew up from, being introduced with SA1 on Dreamcast. Undoubtedly my most favorite era of Sonic. Great work on this!

Sonic Heroes is more of a follow-up to Adventure 2. Same can be said for Shadow....

Factually speaking, Sonic Heroes in it's prototype days did use a lot of placeholder things from Sonic Adventure 2, such as music, textures, and various other little things. This could either a.) Be just as I said, placeholders because why not, or b.) it was actually intended to be an Adventure 3.
