One day I was just suddenly in the mood to draw this picture and I can't quite explain it. I would say it's the first time I've seen a picture this clear in my head before completing it
At first it started just as a sketch I shared with my patrons, But I decided to make a full artwork out of it. I shared it with them around two months ago, and I thought it was time to share it publicly.

Well, I recommend it. It’s primitive compared to the more recent games, but it’s not as outdated as the first game. If nothing else, Shantae acts like herself, unlike in pirate’s curse where they tried to give her more personality, but ultimately failed because they tried way too hard to make her funny and instead just came off as frustrating and out of character.

Half Genie Hero Shantae wasn’t trying too hard to be funny, which is good because it makes her more relatable. Pirate’s Curse Shantae was trying so hard to the point where it was very out of character especially when she accidentally turned the old man to stone. That wasn’t very helpful.

Yeah, but now the Shantae games don’t make me as happy as they used to. Actually, my first Shantae game was Risky’s Revenge. That was back when the dead dog wasn’t canon or when Shantae turned that old guy to stone and wasn’t stupid enough to respond with ignorance or outright announce it, or before you had to poison a little girl with dog food… But, even that wasn’t as bad. You know, WayForward really inspired me to do what I’m doing now, but to find out that they’re only in it to be schmucks like those people on YouTube like Idubzz or SMG4 just makes me feel depressed. You probably wouldn’t understand though.

I do too. He makes me laugh because I know what his videos are all about. It makes sense in a nonsensical way. Shantae turning somebody to stone and acting stoic about it does not make sense. She’s not supposed to be a stupid character who acts all deadpan if something like that we’re to happen. That’s what is different about her in Half Genie Hero because nothing like that happens.

I like to believe that she likes to tease everyone, either with pranks or like this. Maybe she just loves the reactions XD

Then again, she does seem to prefer teasing Shantae most of all, with many characters being ignored as a result, like Skye and Bolo. Perhaps it's merely due to the fact that Shantae is the titular character and, as such, the focus of the series of games, but it would be nice to see more interactions between the secondary characters. Perhaps the next DLC story featuring Risky, Bolo and Skye will remedy to that?
