Wow, I can relate to this way too much. The first year of college was a pretty rough time for me, probably more than most. Excellent job illustrating a difficult transitional period in life.

This is an incredibly powerful piece. Absolutely shows how the thread of childhood can only support you for so long before it breaks.

You are so very welcome. I am terrified of growing up. Every new thing scares me so much, I'm excited but at the same time I'm so afraid of the future. This picture spoke volumes to me. Keep up the great work.

Oh my....I find growing up hard as well....It is a thing that can be hard to face for some people(I find it hard)....
(This is such a amazing drawing as well you know, I love the shading because it fits really well with the mood of the drawing. Also, how long did it take you to draw this?)

so true. growing up is this mysterious scary thing that we're all afraid of, that we can't tell if we should be excited about it or dreading it.

This has more to do with careers and school than a number though.

My school's pretty messed up about this too, what's a Career Pathway supposed to be? What am I suppose to do if I don't fit into any of those catergories?
How do I become an animator/marine biologist/etc. if that option isn't available?
I'm currently taking AutoCAD since it is the closest thing there is to creating 3D models.
I've been complaining about the lack of certain programs (mostly art, lmao) but everyone just tells me to suck it up and do everything online.
Capstone gives me the option to do art at school, cook, and learn another language besides Spanish.
Too bad I'm just about the only one that shows up everyday. ):

M. Well, at my number, I feel school has given me shit and I have hardly a career to speak of. And I have a birthday coming up.

After growing up I realized I missed being a child - life's a lot easier with others managing it. But once I got passed the scary first couple of years I realized that I preferred being an adult. I didn't have to explain every little thing I did, or be home at certain times - or defend not leaving the house for an entire weekend. Every success and fail (and man did it feel like I failed a LOT) was my own doing, and as such *I* learned from it more than I had before.
I had no safety net, and it was terrifying at times, but at 35 I don't regret most of my "bad" choices because they left my in a good place I never thought I'd reach.
So, I say - respect the idea of growing up, but know that there are still a lot of opportunities to be a kid, and try not to let them pass too often ^_^

XD I've always loathed the concept of growing up. By the time I turned 13 I felt 12 was ideal. So each passing year, my friends would tease me, "You're aging again" and I would scream because I hated adding an additional year.
I know for a fact I will always be a child at heart; this picture was primarily expressing the idea my friends are grasping adulthood firmer than I am.
They are taking on big cities. They are moving out of state.
I am so directionally challenged, that being an hour away from my family (in a city slightly smaller than my home city) is a huge leap for me.
If I ever want to do anything with myself artistically, I'll have to go to the coasts. XD

Well, from my experience it's less that your friends are grasping adulthood more firmly
And more that they're hiding their anxiety better.
But the piece is good, and healthy outlet. You'll surprise yourself, I'm quite sure of it.
Though, it might be a couple of years until you realize how surprising you are. I know it took me almost a decade to admit I wasn't actually a failure at the whole adult thing, so don't get /too/ discouraged if it takes a while to see ^_^
