I'll explain Nimue's and Clio's family dilemmas. XD (As to why Zed's dead and Reece and Gunner aren't married)

An Arranged Marriage:
Li and Zed were wed by an arranged marriage. Zed is actually way way old and was an adult when Li was little. Li's always hated Zed, finding him a revolting excuse of a life form. Eventually he impregnated her with a baby girl. After Nimue's birth Zed proposed that he will ALSO mate with Nimue when she comes of age. Zed died under mysterious circumstances.
It was rumored that Li ate him but there wasn't enough evidence to prove that true.

Friends with a Benefit:
Reece was enjoying a broken barrel of rum along with a clan of other sirens in a cove and drank a little to much. Intoxicated, she met someone and they had a little fun. The lesbian later realized she was so drunk the night before that she didn't realized the little lady was actually a man. Reece could repeat the whole story and laugh, saying, "with hair as long as his, you'd think he was a woman from behind. With his mustache-I swore it was a three way." The man, named Gunner, found the situation so funny that they both became friends over it. A few months later the new friends discovered Reece was pregnant with Clio and they decided to raise her as friends with a benefit: Clio.

Then Lonan just has a HUGE family.XD The siblings were drawn in order from oldest to youngest. His older, triplet sisters are where the triplet gene was passed down to Coral and Lonan's triplets.
