Elfquest was such a big inspiration for me as I grew up, so sometimes I just get a craving to draw the characters again.I tried to get the colours a bit similar to how I remember seeing them in my old graphic novels.

It's some time ago that this went to a fan-art calendar but now that I see it here I think I should leave some appreciation.
Though I probably would fancy for a Rayek / Leetah couple a little more - I very much like this one.
This is magnificent. I really love the dark tones of Leetah's skin and in contrast Cutter's living-in-a-shady-forest paleness. Also their faces speak expressions that might be different. He seems to be a bit more on the stern, serious side, also determined? Still a gentlemen and holding her hand while she's climbing up somewhere. She looks softer and cuttenly maybe grateful for the hand.
You managed to give them such a somehowΒ noble and also fragile, delicate aura.
It might be Sorrow's End generic style, but are these Rayek-ronaments on her gown? Ah, well. She would still have been a good match for Rayek. Nastybad Cutter!

They look so incredibly beautiful! You know I always felt that the new issues have lost some of the magic in Wendy's digital art (not that it's not gorgeous) but your digital art gives the feeling of those chalks she used to do. Deep and flowing and magical. I'm stunned at this piece! And I hardly ever comment on anything these days anymore so that really tells you how much I like it

I kind of agree with you about the digital art. It's not Wendy's fault, though, she's using a method of digital colouring that will always look different from how she used to paint things. But that doesn't meant I don't miss her old style.

Leetah is great, and the only issue with Cutter is that his hair is, I believe, just a little too light.

I appreciate that you told me, because I honestly didn't notice! You have a point. In the older artwork of Wendy's his hair had beautiful shades of green and yellow and blue to make his hair stand out.
(I was actually more worried about the sky behind him not being dark enough, because I wanted to exploit the dark/light contrast in this piece. That's also why his hair is as light as it is. Normally I try to add some more color to his hair.)

...I kinda' miss Leetah's river of sensual, sumptuous curls.....but then again, it is so *seldom* that folks get the colors of this epic couple right, that I just don't care!
Not to mention that you've done an excellent job of managing the tricky proportions of Pini's elven anatomy. Once again, AWESOME Elfquest art! This is just a joy to look at!
