Description
One of the hated Auxies of the Irish war of Independence. The Auxiliary Division of the Royal Irish Constabulary was a paramilitary organisation who fought as part of the Crown forces during the Irish War of Independence. The Auxies were formed in 1920 and were recruited from ex-officers who had served in the Great War.
Their main role was counterinsurgency operations against the Irish Republican Army and they gained a reputation for violence and brutality against the Irish people. The Auxies were hated by their enemies and the population, and disliked by their allies in the Royal Irish Constabulary and the British Army.
The Auxies are often confused with the Royal Irish Constabulary Reserve Force, known as the 'Black and Tans'. The Reserve Force was recruited from non-commissioned British veterans of the Great War (who were paid significantly less than the ex-officers in the Auxiliaries) The Black and Tans were also responsible for brutal violent outrages during the war, but it seems many of the crimes attributed to them were in fact carried out by the Auxies.

Yep these were the guys who really "lost" Ireland, a large number of Irish had volunteered for service in WW1(no conscription in Ireland) imagine what it was like coming home from that and a few years later seeing a gang of these punks burning the co-op or your barn down and terrorizing civillians
