Commission work done by ~jakneurotic . Always been a fan of his more adult, grown up pony designs (from the My Little Pony series for the uninitiated) and I had asked him to do a key illustration from a fanfic I'm writing up.

The scene is of Princess Luna's final night with her loyal attendant Angel Song (who is also becoming a princess, hence the title). Angel Song is Princess Luna's one true friend in Canterlot, however destiny has her leaving for adventures elsewhere, as is her duty to the Royals of Equestria. What duties you may ask? You'll just have to read the fanfic when I post it!

A description of the scene straight from the artist, who I couldn't help but quote (with his permission) as I really loved the way he described his work on the scene:

"What I liked the most about your fan fiction concept was the sort of "love that can never be" angle. I tried to bring that across in this scene. In their final moment together on the balcony, the two characters express their pent up emotions with a very reserved physical intimacy. We view them from the rear to convey hidden feelings and the moonlight makes the scene more sombre; night time communicating an end to their relationship." ~ ~jakneurotic .
