[Dan's POV]

Everybody said I was a fool for falling in love with you.

They warned me of what eventually would happened, but as you feel asleep with your head on my shoulder I ignored them.

Your beautiful soul made me blind to what the others said.

I choose to listen to my heart, and everybody said it was the worst decision I'd ever made.

But do I reget it?

Nope.

I don't have a single speck of bitterness towards you or what we had, because I knew this would happen.

I knew it all along that you would wander away from me.

I knew that one day you would eventually find somebody who'd be - not just everything you wanted - but everything you needed.

I was a stepping stone to something great.

I let you use me since the day we met.

That's why whenever you held my hand, I'd hold yours a bit tighter.

Whenever we cuddled, I'd squeeze you a bit harder.

Whenever you hugged me, I'd hold you a bit longer.

Whenever we kissed, I'd be a bit more passionate.

Back when I was still yours and you were still mine.

Because I knew - even now as I sit here, all alone in this now empty flat - that you were just a moving part.

But what's inexcusable is I'm not done falling.

I don't think I'll ever be able to stop this recklessness.

I'll love you until it kills me.

And sometimes I find myself wondering if your love was even real, or was it an illusion?

Did you feel sympathy towards me, or did you treat everyone you met like they were the only person in the world?

It doesn't matter either way, really.

Your love was gold.
