Description
Shi PainterHoly shit, this took way too long to do.
And the rat came out looking like a badger.
EDIT: Ok, the kids down at OC randomly decide to archive this bitch a good two weeks after I finish it. But now that I've had those two weeks to look at it, I HATE this picture. Ugh.
Full view, there's cool stuff in there.

Hmm, I remember this from OC, but I always thought you did the anatomy like that on purpose, lol. I've seen a lot of exaggerated anatomy on pictures, so all this uproar over it is slightly humorous to me. I don't see why anyone thought you were oblivious to the anatomy and needed a detailed critique of that. Kinda like when someone goes, "You have a pimple on your face!" When you -obviously- know it's there without someone pointing it out to you.
Regardless I still love this picture, and the other Exterminator picture.

holy. shit. i got here too late to stab ippus in the eye, but uh. Reading that argument made me laugh on the inside, so I guess I'll be content with that.
Retarded bitches aside, I remember seeing this like a year ago on OC and going like "OH MY GOD :<"; i realize now from looking at your gallery in full that you're a talented traditional artist in your own right and you have a lot to be proud of. sweet.

I am quite stunned with the comments ... Not that I want to butt in or something, but your work is very nice ... Style is far different from lack of anatomy, highlights, colouring, [..] knowledge. I mean, Hyung-Tae Kim didn't really pay attention to it either ^-^

WOW DAT IS SOOOoOo HAWT DRAW MORE PLZZ!!!!!1111
I think that everyone is making a big deal over nothing. Ippus criticized this piece of work - she might have been correct (I don't know, I don't profess to be any master of anatomy, nor do I wish to attend art college), but the tone she took was unecessarily scathing, and she did come off as superior.
Raskolnikova seemed to take it pretty well. Then, after 3 minutes and 12 seconds of checking Ippus's gallery out, seemed to take it not so well. Was it because she was an anime artist? Or was it something else? I don't know. (Or maybe you type at 4 wpm XD) Ippus was giving a list of general criticisms on anatomy, and not a step-by-step on "how to make your work more like generic HTK-style art!", which is what I think Raskolnikova mistook the crit for. Misunderstandings happen. But yet:
Some of us actually have to work on the styles and themes that are appreciated by the real world and not by thousands of prepubescent psuedo scene-whores.
This seems cruel to me, especially if I just imagined the misunderstanding and Raskolnikova's hostility is grounded in the fact that Ippus is one of those anime artists. (This is just my reasoning, correct me if I am wrong in any way.)
It might be all right to justify why your work has differences from what is traditionally seen, but labeling Ippus's fans as "prepubescent psuedo scene-whores" is an insult to her work. It's also condescending... maybe even more so than Ippus. Ippus has a reason to take it as a direct insult, because there is the implication that she is catering to these supposedly shallow fanboys and girls, and is therefore shallow herself.
Your heartfelt compliment towards the polished work I have done in "this genre" warms me to no end. The fact that this comes from an artist who works on "styles and themes that are appreciated by the real world," such as scantily clad cat-women that are anatomically incorrect, adds further clout to this compliment.
Oh no, she called me shallow. Well guess what, you're shallow TOO! This is how fights begin, I guess.
Although I can understand why Ra[asdsadada] got angry, I think that the insults to Ippus's art, integrity, and even race were uncalled for. I guess that vicious remark triggered it. Everyone loses it now and then... especially if there are misunderstandings, but your tirade seems a little like an really big overreaction.
I hope you guys don't think I'm prying. I couldn't help but comment.

It's painfully obviously Hyung Tae Kim. Too bad the style wasn't used well.
The girl on the left:
She'd have NO PROBLEM with child bearing. She has very little space for a waist and enormous thighs. I find it somewhat frightening.
The gun is very strange, it's like it's made of plastic or something. Eyes are frighteningly far apart.
The girl on the right:
Her face, is just distorted, her nose needs to come out more and her eye less away from the edge of her face. Compared to lefty, her waist is hideously SMALL. Her butt is a strange shape too. Her elbows start off too high up her arm and her fingers are monstrously bony. Her shoes look like they're crushing her feet painfully. Her cat ear is...very weird, with a headgear that seems to have torn through it to get to the front.
Overall:
Your lighting is strange, placing the white highlight dots (again, a htk trait) anywhere you feel like. Both characters look strangely out of place with the background and monster, especially because of their vibrant clothes.

Perhaps if you spent .2 seconds of your ever-important dA-scourging to look at the rest of my gallery, you'd know what I was talking about.
So let me rest on my laurels and bit take off the gloves, shall we? I genuine appreciate the critique. But. As far as your imposed superiority goes in this genre:
Try to get into art school with that shit and see how far it gets you. Wait...revision..
*Try to get into an art school worth mentioning and see how far it gets you. You may be infinitely better than me in the arts of HTK-copying and..well...uh, that's about it. O_O.
But don't let me get you down. I'm sure the gratification of said scene-whores swooning over you will erase that annoying little fact of reality that your stuff (our stuff) looks exactly like the work of about 1000 others and has about as much emotional impact as a Franz Kline or perhaps a drawing by a 5-year-old.
Yet this little skiff just goes to show how differently we view things.

Do you always reply to legitimate critiques with personal attacks? You're so incredibly defensive. Is that insecurity I sense?
As for "imposed superiority"?
"Some of us actually have to work on the styles and themes that are appreciated by the real world and not by thousands of prepubescent psuedo scene-whores."
That's imposed superority. Your hypocrisy is stunning. I cannot help but applaud.
You also have the outstanding ability to make assumptions.
"Try to get into an art school worth mentioning and see how far it gets you."
Not everyone who draws dreams of turning the hobby into a career.
Allow me to make a similar assumption that you are in, or are considering art school.
Try seeing how far you'll make it in art school, or even as an artist, if you respond to all critiques of your work with a personal attack.
Ippus was not criticizing you, or even your works in general. She was simply pinpointing the flaws in this piece. Yet, for some strange and obscure reason, you decided to respond by accusing her of catering to "prepubescent psuedo scene-whores," and calling her works "shit." Had Ippus viciously maligned your art and integrity, as you did to her, such a reply would have been appropriate. However, she did no such thing.
Your arrogance is awe-inspiring. While art may be a lynchpin of your life, it is merely a hobby for others. Your bashing Ippus will actually fail to achieve the reaction sparked in you when you recieve a critique.
Some people just can't take critique. Perhaps you should consider selecting the option that restricts others from posting critique when you next upload one of your works. The critique option for this work states "Critique Welcome." Apparantly not.
This passage:
"But don't let me get you down. I'm sure the gratification of said scene-whores swooning over you will erase that annoying little fact of reality that your stuff (our stuff) looks exactly like the work of about 1000 others and has about as much emotional impact as a Franz Kline or perhaps a drawing by a 5-year-old."
Really should be from Ippus to you.
Learn to take it. A critique is simply a critique, not an attack on your person. Attempting to insult and put down the critic will not make the flawed piece better.

Indeed we sure do view things VERY differently :3
Too bad I'm not desperate enough to waltz around online with real works other than anime. I do anime out of habit and boredom, why in the world would I even THINK about sending that off to art school...are you raving mad!?
And quite frankly your art isn't particularily wonderful either. Hours of patience maybe but...that's about it O_o I don't see the wonderful emotion you so highly regard, instead all I see is a try-hard Tim Burton showing off.

Here we are.
I don't give a shit what some self-important school girl thinks, to be completely honest.
I'm not wonderful? My stuff is shit? Right. Tell that to the people at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. And Parsons School of Design in New York. And fucking RISD. Because apparently they have adopted the practice of accepting "sub-par" artists, despite an acceptance rate of 20% and the most rigorous course in the fucking country.
But you wouldn't know that. You shit-for-brains lord over your "art" and anime like it takes any fucking skill to copy another person's work.
How is it desperate to "waltz around" with my "real work?" I'm only supposed to show anime?
Are you fucking kidding me?
Do not comment on my page again, or get your friends to comment on my shit either. Just go back to your pocky and Hello Kitty purses and hackneyed repos. Because you officially have discredited yourself and any merit your critique had by acting like somehow the fact you were born chinese (or whatever the hell you are) makes you and your opinion better than mine. What a joke.

I don't understand why you seem to have some kind of vendatta against me. I apologize for any harm my previous critique or comment caused, and would like to clarify that my original critique held no ill will towards you at all, as you seemed to interpret as such. Perhaps my word choice served to convey that I was attempting to insult you.
I apologize once again, and reiterate that I did not mean to cause insult. I will be too happy to refrain from commenting on your works again.
I would also like to inform you that you have completely misjudged me, in your frenzy to nullify my critique by attacking me personally.
Drawing is a hobby for me. I never said, as *you* assumed, that I considered anime the superior art form. I do not live off pocky, and hello kitty, as you assumed. I also do not feel that my race, which happens to be Korean, not Chinese, makes my opinion all-important, as I am not racist. If only that could be said for your comment.
I'm perfectly aware than anime is not a superior art form, having in your art class is more than enough to reveal that fact. I draw to amuse myself, not to cater to others. You may choose to interpret it as you have done--I am not the self-important one.

I, in turn, apologize for calling your intent as to race into question.
Perhaps this was a culmination of about 1000 arguments with anime fans and HTK adherents in which I was essentially called out for bastardizing HTK's work and in which I was told to stick to my day job.
The critique itself, as you might have seen, was accepted as best as I could considering the veritable avalanche of things pointed out that were wrong with the piece (not many are willing to so..uh, thoroughly discount the compositional and anatomical errors of another's work.) The "scene whore" comment was not so much directed at your and the fans of your work as it was a general appraisal of WHAT the anime fan-base is.
Because we all know, however much our egos are boosted by a positive assessment of our work, that these compliments are completely subjective and in anime's case the majority of these compliments come from prepubescents and teenagers whose most eloquent way of complimenting you is going "OMGZ KAWAII."
I was also wrong is assuming we both saw our work as vitally important and inassailable; you are not an art student, while I am. While you see your work as a fun diversion and hobby, this is what I've chosen to do as a career.
I apologize for flipping out. It was going to happen sooner or later to whomever fit the criteria, and unfortunately I unfairly targeted you.

Thank your for an honest critique.
Believe me, I've already noticed the majority of these things, but it was stupid sentimentality that kept from erasing it. Noone wants to be told they spent hours on something that came out...very badly.
Either way, the finer points of this sort of anatomy/composition structure evade me, as do textures/etc.
The afterglow of having about 300 12-year-olds storm your page maybe kept this picture here a lot longer than it should have been.
