Those that haven't read the Virgin New Adventures, Bernice is basic the mold that they broke out River Song at least in character, an archaeologist (at least, she claimed) from the 24th century and a on-par mental foil for the Doctor. A hint of a love interest but nothing farther than that.

I really hope I get to experience more of the extended universe at some point (especially for the Eighth Doctor). Hopefully I'll have enough soon I'll be able to afford large numbers of the EDA books.
