Description
This illustration is my first participation for an awesome contest on french website 3dvf.com.The subject: "Jules Verne's Universes".
This artwork was inspired by the "20 000 Leagues Under the Sea" novel and represents my vision of Captain Nemo and his loneliness. I wanted to show this 2 faces character. A charismatic man, cryptic, cultivated and passionate by sciences, music and arts. But a man contained on itself. That's why I wanted his reflect to appear different of what he seems to be.
Photoshop CS3, Wacom Intuos 3 A5 tablet, and long, long, too long hours.
I could never imagine doing that! It's the first time i'm doing an artwork like this.
Sorry for my bad english.
All comments & critics are welcome.

A life-time in a picture. The man "without an honest heart as compass" is inside these colors and you've captured his soul, thank you for this awsome work.

This is a beautiful piece. You've really captured the essence of Nemo's character wonderfully. I've just finished the bok in English and I'm starting on the French version; like you, I find the universe created by Verne utterly captivating.
I especially love your use of the colour blue, and the texture of the window!

I love this! Nemo is my favorite literary character of all time! Seems like every movie, Disney's included, portrays him as a villain. In actuality, he's more like an anti-hero. His motives are good, but his execution is questionable. None of the movies ever touch on the emotional depth of this genius. This reminds me of the very last time Arronax sees the Captain, as he solemnly plays his organ, silently reflecting on his life and deeds.

This is amazing!
The feeling of self-imposed exile, the bareness of ones soul entombed in a metal casket.
Really gives to the name Nemo. Nobody.

This is so emotional. In the novel "20 000 leagues under the sea" Nemo is always kind of acting, showig a false face towards the others (at least the three main characters), but I think he's really a very sad man (He has some breakdowns in the book too). This picture illustrates it really good.
Sorry for bad comment, but I hope you understand how I meant.
Nemo is a very fascinating character, really. I wonder why there's so little art of him.
I love your technique in this. It's just... wow, great pic!!

Wow! What a comment! I appreciate it. Really!
I'm totally alright with you about Nemo. It's exactly what I felt about him, several years ago when I read "20 000 leagues under the sea". It's a sad person.
ps: for the moment, I not really have any technique. But I search it, and one day I'll finding it. One day.
But thanks for this comment.

Glad if I could do anything right ^^
Indeed, and I really like the book. At first I just thought it was going to be boring and hard to read, but afterwards I consider it one of my absolute favourite books.
You don't? That's pretty interesting, and, I guess, pretty irritating too Well, good luck in finding one!!
Not at all
