Thanks. All the rendering was a change of pace for me, but I figured the illustration called for it since the guy was such a giant part of the composition.

Just a generic simplified bird, I guess. I wanted the bird theme to run through the book (you can see those same birds on hatch's album cover on page 1) so I tried to pick a simple design I could draw a few dozen times.
