Description A little preview of what I've been working on. See that pile of plushies? Yea, I've been busy.

Some of them are for sale in fact, and I'm working on making three of the cute little disgruntled bunny you see there ("Le-Le" she's in my Leporidae design series) to be up by next weekend. Pictures shall be soon...

And yes this is my space where I work on sewing for the moment....a small, ridiculously organized space I can't wait till my studio is done O__O

Dude, my workspace is basically against a wall in my living room (which hasn't been furnished yet, so I can also use the floor to lay out fabric), but I also have stuff randomly laying around the house that I'm working on. I need to get organized like this. I'm also glad my mom hasn't cracked down on it yet. xD;

I love that rainbow tin! Too cute! X3 The plushies look awesome, too.

Uhm, i know what you mean XD have you ever tried to sew by hands? in my opinion, it's more simple that using a sewing machine ._.

I do a lot of hand sewing even with the machine there, cause some things you can not do on a machine. I like hand sewing too but it is just faster to use a machine for large pieces, or ones with long, simple seams. Also the sewing machine sews it a lot smoother and stronger than hand sewing on long seams.

LOL well sort of. Our house is a post and beam style, and that work area is on one side of the top floor is open to the rest of the house (cathedral open ceiling like in a barn, there is a balcony right there over looking down to the living room) - we HAVE no attic you can look right up at the peak of he roof. X3 So this work area, and my room room, are RIGHT up against the eve of the roof (my bed is under the other eve so I can't sit up abruptly in bed I'll whack my head! )

Lithe-Fider In reply to ThisUsernameFails [2009-03-13 02:26:00 +0000 UTC]

That machine is not mine actually, it's Dad's and he like doesn't use it .... I don't use it either it just eats up floor space. I find it funny I prefer my 30 year old Kenmore Singer to a practically brand new machine sitting right at my feet.

My brandy new surger is out of view to the right on top of an ironing board. That one I do use.

ThisUsernameFails In reply to Lithe-Fider [2009-03-13 02:32:14 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, mine's been a good ol' machine, but recently it's been nomming on the bobbin thread and making it bunch up and all. I've been able to fix it for the most part by keeping the tail of the threads pulled taught when I begin to stitch, but it's a true love-hate relationship with that thing.
I've wanted to throw it through a wall on many, many occasions.

Your workspace is so nice and neat! I ALWAYS demolish my room when I start sewing, so when I start a project, leaving it unfinished is out of the question. I keep my machine on the floor, sit cross legged, and use my right knee to pop the pedal down. Quite fun, but after a few hours stationary, you just wanna roll around. I oculd use my desk, but there's a printer on the floor as well, and I'm always afraid of tripping and dying when I'm by that desk.

Lithe-Fider In reply to ThisUsernameFails [2009-03-13 03:21:13 +0000 UTC]

Mine likes to suck fabric into the hole thing if I start too close to an edge and the tension is often stupid on it. And yea it eats the thread randomly too. Other than that it is great.

HAHA NEAT well ... (it could be better...) but yea I TRY....like I have such a small space I need to keep it orderly or else I have nowhere to WORK. At least that space is only for that so I never need to put all that stuff away. That sucks you've actually DONE THAT? Use your KNEE? I couldn't deal with that. XD

Off screen just to the right up aganist another wall is an ironing board where I lay out fabric, surge on my surger, and occasional actually iron on it (LOL).

Well, I habitually sit cross legged (Even in chairs, which is a pain on the bus) and am very flexible in the hips, so sitting cross legged and having my torso flat on the floor is easy for me. It's actually really relaxing to sit like that. I'm physically closer to my machine and all it entails, so it's comforting to know where everything is, hehehe.

Lesbian fights woulda been pretty cool, too. -brainstorms-
I like Lesbian Rights far better than nights. Because the night only last so long, bby. ;D (Oh god, pleas e kill me)
I'm TOTALLY digging the eyes going on the one on the table, are the indents from it made by slicing the fabric to come in on itself, or a certain type of stitch? (Unless you wanna keep your secrets, s'all good, I'm just SO CURIOUS ABOUT IT.)

If you look at the tan fabric under the pink bunny, right by the rainbow sticker it looks sorta like a dragon, head, and you can follow that back into wings and whatnot, but maybe I'm looking into piled fabric too much.

What is "Flight of Dragons?"

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

zen-apprentice In reply to Lithe-Fider [2009-03-19 22:48:22 +0000 UTC]

It's this really old movie made during the 80's by, I think, the same studio that did the Lord of the Rings animation movie. It's about how in a fantasyland where warlocks and dragons exist people began to stop believing in superstitious magic and the council of magicians decreed that if they don't do something then the general public will stop believing in them and therefore disappear. One wizard suggest to remove their magical world and live in another dimension, while an obviously evil wizard says "Hell no! We're going to fight for our existence!" and so that one wizard who suggests they all move elsewhere decides to enlist help from "The Chosen One" from the future and somehow by transporting that guy back into the past... he switched consciousness with another dragon.

Don McLean wrote a song in the movie as well!
