Imagine you're on a boat in the middle of the Caribbean ocean- and for whatever reason you fell over board. There amongst the bubbles and froth as you flail about that's where you see THIS guy!what would go through your head?
This is Ural my little Merboy OC. He's about 14 in this picture accidentally taking his investigation of humans a bit too closely. I want to make a short story about him. He's a flying fish btw.
Note: This picture was a WIP for MONTHS! I made it LAST year- the line art at least and have been going back to it every so often.
While I was working on a double meme piece I realized I had only a tiny bit to finish so here it is.
Now back to my REAL work >w>,..
I finished it listening to this song- I often came back to it while I did this..

I think the idea of a flying fish merman is pretty neat! I've been considering the idea for a possible character myself.
Beautifully done with the colors and the way the light shines down into the water. I really like how Ural's flight fins turned out too. They're such a lovely shade of blue. Whenever I think of a flying fish merperson, I picture them with their flying fins on their backs like angel wings with the supporting fins near the hips. I find it interesting that you decided to place Ural's main flight fins on his hips instead.

Very nice image, even if it makes me feel a little cold. Of course, I imagine that I'd probably not notice him as by the time I'd open my eyes, I'd probably have already swam back to the surface

I would probably have two thoughts in my mind. One, who is he? And two, when did I forget to swim?

Thank you, his fins seem a little small here but hey- it was a first attempt many years ago.
So you can swim? that's god, it would make dragging you to shore much easier for him. He's only 14.

Girl if I could package talent- I'd be Famous and rich enough to OWN my won house TwT...but you have your own I assure you. I've seen your work. Just keep at it! I've had 24 years worth of experience and practice. And even now I find myself lacking a lot in some places. In time I'm sure we'll both get to where we want to be .

I understand what you mean, it is a difficult pose, not ordinary way to put shadows, since it's not an ordinary angle. It doesn't look so much like his chest is curved.. but I don't think I would have known how to make it work... xD
