Shion can come off as a typical follower of the Maker's Religion, faithful, perhaps idealistic, very devoted- so focused in her work and duties she can also be very absent minded. At times she must write her duties on her arm so she won’t forget- and wears a ribbon on the other wrist so he won’t forget to look at it!
As a Scholar her mind is always a buzz with ideas, but to the point it can be distracting and she will often lose track of her notes which are always being refreshed as she uncovers more information. Raised to believe she was meant for greater things, (to which only the Maker knows for sure), Shion strives to prove her mother’s predictions about her true.
She holds fast to a dream she will do something meaningful with her existence, and that her faith will show her the way, so for now she’s assigned herself to a life style of charity and kind servitude, hoping her good deeds will reward her with answers.

The drive to prove her mother’s faith in her true has indeed put the chimera into an innovative practice which has bared fruit for those around her. Her extensive studies into the monsters and their behavior have provided excellent insight because she is more than willing to share her findings. Often called a bleeding heart, she cannot resist a person in need; a trait belonging to a kind person, but she lacks the experience to divine someone’s personal intensions.

Her saving grace is her quick wittedness. When presser is on she can use her knowledge to make swift decisions and tackle a problem if trouble arose. Although she is inclined to try and devise a solution that benefits everyone; Shion has yet to make a truly hard decision, but she cannot stay innocent to this truth forever. One day she will be forced to make sacrifices and choices which will hurt someone regardless. In this regard Shion is a bit too naive- sometimes there is no good answer, but she refuses to believe this.

History:

Before the War, Shion grew up in a village in the mountain regions of Valia. Her mother, Shiloh, was an owl Chimera who met her beloved Eion, one night when she was flying through the cliffs and was lost during a white out. The skilled guide led her back safely through a storm and not long after, he began to court. Shion was born 1 year after they were married. She grew up learning from her father the art of weathering storm travel during flight, how to survive in the cold temperatures, and found a very useful way she could observe the creatures of the fade. The way their owl species hovered in the air provided an extensive way to study at safe distances without being attacked, and things was how her father became a respected guide and scout for their village. She also began to learn how to use magic under her Father’s guidance, he claimed in time it would become an asset to concealed flight but she never showed her first hand himself, and made strict rules to never let anyone see her use it- not even her mother.

When Shion was 5 the war broke out, and the armies and monsters alike combed the country leaving nothing untouched, so their village was under siege many times. Men and woman were taken into service, and though her father managed to avoid being drafted he couldn’t avoid his fate forever. During the final year of the War a mass group of Fade creatures were driven into the mountains and with hardly anyone left to defend the village her father took it upon himself to drive them away.

He used his Wind Magic, and up until this time not even his wife had seen him use it (though she was aware he had it) nor understood just how much skill or control he had over it. Shion’s father unleashed a powerful tornado, using the storm brewing at the time to blind the creatures and threw them over the cliff. Some people believed he made the storm himself- others were not so sure.
When it was over the village was spared, but the people said Eion fell from the sky over the edge with the creatures. The magnitude of the spell took all his strength he had none left to save himself with and fly to safety. Shion’s last memory of her father was him disappearing into the funnel of snow which engulfed the Cliffside.

In agreement with his wife before this took place, Shiloh packed their belongings and left Valia to follow the military scouts who came to investigate later and with the help of a friend in their ranks mother and daughter migrated to the Holy City. Shiloh swore Shion wouldn’t become part of the magic users cultivated for the war and so she pledged her daughter to the Temples of the Maker.

Shion practiced her Magic under the careful observation of a priestess who knew about the Chimera’s powers and became a devout student of their clergy. Yet even when int heir custody she was ordered to never show her magic in public without permission. In time Shion also came to hone her ability to weather the elements during flight and began to study the monsters of the fade, culminating her own information regarding their behavior and weaknesses, but most importantly how to avoid them and which paths to traverse below for those on foot. When she brought her work to the high Priestesses they sanctioned her position under their name as a guide. Shion hence forth took with her a lamp with the Temples symbol into the sky and became the guiding light for those traversing across the land to the Holy City when storms made it dangerous. Shion used her knowledge of both the dangers and her high vantage view to lead people to safety across the valley till they reached the protected boarders.

In her 24th year Shion became an official priestess, her duties are ranked as a Scholar who’s knowledge covers the related studies between the Fade and the scriptures of the Maker. Her focus in particular is the behaviors and Intel on the different Fade creatures, keeping tabs on how many of them are in the area and where they roam. Those she leads through the storms are directed to the temple where she serves when arriving at the city.

The body of her father, Eion, was never found.

Her mother became a servant for a more wealthy family in the city, and though she lives with them Shiloh visits the Temples to see her daughter often.

Shion’s body is delicate like a bird, so even if she can endure long flights her hollow bones are not equipped to handle harsh blows and can crack more easily than regular human bones.

When she’s guiding travelers to and fro her trips can last a few days at a time.

Shions own control of her magic is considered only basic for now. She can create small whirlwinds but they cannot last for more than a few moments. The best she can do is blowing her papers around her room in a great mess!
