Description
I did it thinking to Jane Austen world, but no scene in particular.Pencil + some Paint Shop filters... I usually don't do that but I drew this on bad quality paper so it looked pale and bluish...

just to let you know I was curious about drawing trees too and I'm saving your short explanation to Skeets31 earlier as reference. I'll be practicing drawing trees this week for my art class so I'll need all the help I can get. It's one thing to know about seeing shape and another thing entirely to try and account for leaves and branches and shadows and the way sunlight plays on them, but oh well. That's what practice is for, right? I like your drawing quite a bit!

Uh... I don't know if I can really give good advice...
Well:
I think it is not a good idea to draw branches first and then put leaves on them. It will look simplistic.
Try to think of volumes first, of masses of foliage, sketch them on your sheet of paper. When I sketch volumes, I try to give them some "dynamic" in their disposition: think of physical forces: gravity, phototropism.
Don't draw leaves separatly, try to suggest them as you do the shading. For the shading, Notice that they are several ways leaves can be enlighted: the mass of foliage catch diffuse lighting in some parts, while others are in shadows, some leaves among the foliage shimmer like metal, part of the foliage enlighted from behind looks transclent...
Don't know if I helped you... anyway, observing nature is the most important (easy to say, I know )

Thanks !
I like the woman and the child too... I draw very few human beings, so when they don't look too ill-proprotioned or awkward in their pose, I am happy ^^
