However - making money from someone else's established character is very questionable legally. I know a lot of it goes on, what with people making and selling t-shirt designs and other such things of characters from shows all the time - but unless Pendleton Ward's registered his creations under an open commercial license I think it's illegal to make profit from designs containing their likenesses, even if you pop a "Character copyright to the creator" notice in the description. If you're unsure, it's probably best to directly contact him about permissions and licensing.
A lot of people seem to get away with selling designs featuring popular characters, but having researched this myself it really is only a matter of time before these people are found out and forced to cough up, in many cases! I created a Catbug sticker myself which I uploaded to CafΓ©press, but after considering the possible consequences I made it private and just bought one for myself. Making profit from someone else's creation, even if you draw a re-make of it in your own style, is a pretty grey area in terms of honesty and dodging copyright law - so I hope you consider this, as I sure wouldn't like to see you get in trouble! c:
