*** THIS SKIN IS NO LONGER WORKING AS THERE ARE SOME ISSUES WITH THE IMAGES LINKS AND THEY CAN'T BE FIXED ***
** THE WORKING VERSION CAN BE FIND HERE DeathNote Journal Skin - V2 **
I'm resubmitting this CSS in a skin version, so that's easier for people to use it.
If you want to create a small title in the journal use the code:
class="title">Your Titlediv>.

Well, what can I say? I love the simple black and white. It's very tasteful and also....elegant. There aren't a lot of fancy designs to distract the viewer, leaving the written material inside to draw the person'a attention. The DEATH NOTE theme is original and macabre for people with darker tastes. And it's a good choice of FONT that can be seen easily when the "skin" image is at a minimal size. Also the BORDERS are an extra added touch.
I also enjoy the rectangular SHAPE of the actual skin this artist has designed. I like this more than, say, an actual box shape. And once again, I like the BOLDNESS of this artist using the DEATH NOTE as a skin. It was a great idea. It shows this artist really has an imagination and as we see, the skill to execute said idea professionally. A+

Whoa~ Death Note journal skin! First time see.. =w= Here's the critique :
1. The journal skin is to olain for me, Well remembering Death Note is like what.. I know it's only Black and White but it's just too plain
2. The skull at the top is not really fitted in this journal skin, better to try something else like The title of the journal with Death Note font, that would be great!
3. I like the details in the corner, good job at doing that! And I have to tell you, try to add more detail is the bottom for example, try too unleash your own imagination!
That's all~ I hope this criique would help~

What can I say. The white really stands out from the black. The title really fits in with the skin. I personaly think the corner patterns really fit the theme and the layout is superb. If you have any more journal skins, I would love to see them! I think your skins are amazing! And if I see one that suites my personality, I'll be sure to use it! Although this skin is dark, it's really passoinate and brings out the feelings of who may use it.Very well done, keep up the good work and good luck for the future!

What can I say about this apart from - Wow! Its utterly superb - your design replicates the death note exactly; who wouldn't want that? At first it appears simple, but take a closer look and you can see the intricate designs of the journal skin's patterns. The text for it fit perfectly and are clear and easy to read. Any fan of Death Note should adore this; I know I do! I'm most definitely going to use this for my next deviantart journal, and I reccomend it to others too! This is certainly a work that you should be proud of.

Wow, this is really cool! It looks really good, and the white against black is simple, yet effective. It doesn't really have a deathnote look to it, as there is nothing really relating to the subject on there, although it is still really good. I like the way that the border has those little pictures in the corners, as it brings the whole skin together, and stops it being boring. The impact is also very good, as as soon as I saw it I thought 'wow!'. Overall, I really like this journal skin, and I am going to use it for my next journal :3

Wow! As soon as I saw this skin I had to use it! There are so man great things about this skin, let's scrutinize them in sections...
Vision
The process of fitting every detail together seamlessly is really harder than it seems. You executed a clean, but interesting skin that isn't too complicated, yet isn't lacking either. This is not an easy task, so bravo!
Originality
There may be tons of dark skins, but this one is quite unique. I've yet to see any skins of Death Note, despite how popular the series is! You really captured the "feel of the series, and for that, the originality shall prosper!
Technique
The way you managed to integrate all of these features together in a way that's both visually pleasing, and easy to look at too! The technique used to execute this is amazing.
Impact
The best part of this skin is the impact it sends to the reader! It is one of the best dark skins I've seen, mainly because it doesn't flash tons of random lines and designs! This simple, yet stunning skin is in many ways, a work of art. Excellent work! You truly deserve all of this attention!

Amazing as soon as I saw this the impact it had on me was incredible. The piece here is so simple but I can see the time and effort you must have put into this. Colourful pictures are more eyecatching to most but black and white is what really gets my head turning.
You haven't overloaded the skin with pictures and big text and that is another thing I like about it. Although it's plain it will go far because you've been quite original and made a Death Note skin.
Im very impressed with your work
Keep it up

I like the way you thought of a subject that many people are attracted to and decided to implement a CSS skin directed towards these people. The theme hasn't been very common in CSS, even though the series is quite popular, which makes the concept of design original.
I know the experience you have with CSS and its implementation, which assures me that the coding for this will work like a charm. Also, the layout is simple and easy to use with no need for a too complicated or too delicate code. This is good, because many people like the ready-to-use idea.
What I think could be vastly improved is the appearance of the design itself. Sometimes they say 'simpler is better', but there's also 'too simple' and I feel this falls into this category. It's elegant, but it also looks rather boring, with the lines and the text all in white and the background in plain black. Some extra images or a change in the weight of the fonts could add a little impact to the design.

Deathnote makes a better journal skin than it made a singular event. The journal skin makes an interesting vignette.

Thanks a lot for your hints. I just thought that for the first journal skin I should have gone for something extremely easy and simple cause I really didn't know much about them either. As for the lack of imagery, I simply tried to recreate the Death Note "book", trying to make it look exactly as the original one, as I'm a little afraid of all the fans of that anime. Next time I'll use a easier subject that I'll be able to customize as I want to.

okay I checked the code....
^^ there's something wrong with the images
the urls no longer exist or have been renamed?
tried inputting this
fc07.deviantart.com/fs42/o/200β¦
in my browser
changed https for http and it sent me to
other00.deviantart.net/ecb1/o/β¦
...
also this link
digilander.libero.it/fearoftheβ¦
(the top picture of the skull)
seems broken

Little-Vampire In reply to KaizenKitty [2017-10-18 17:06:43 +0000 UTC]
I think the main problem is that now dA use the https protocol, while when I made this skin all the URLs were http.
The top image still exist but it's an http protocol (just remove the s): digilander.libero.it/fearoftheβ¦
Β I wouldn't know how to edit this skin at the moment... I'm not even sure if I still have somewhere the images that I usedΒ for the skin...
If you have any idea on how to fix it let me know and I'llΒ try.
